Then don't. To be honest, I was expecting big sales from him. What with him being in 1D and them kinda suffering without him

Suffering

They had a number one and two top tens and a sell out tour in the space of less than a year without him

Zayn will get number one...for one week. The days of big selling albums are over....(unless your name is Adele).

do i WANT to buy the zAyN album?  no i bloody well do not!

looks certain adele will have the biggest selling album of the week ^_^ ~ although streaming appears to be zayn's last hope of clinging on, by the skin of his fingernails, combined~

I am surprised by Zayn's relatively low sales given the success of his first single and fact he's from a popular group but I'm not a fan and would prefer Adele to stay at no1.

Well, I dunno. Look at Ed Sheeran, Emily thingy, Sam Smith...

With the right marketing and a handful of MOR hits you can sell well over a million.

The days are gone where a band like Green Day or Muse sell a million of their album.

Unless you mean big first week sales!

Come on peeps, people getting bored with long-running #1s in the Singles chart but don't mind Adele at #1 album for 52 weeks a year!

A bit of a fail with the trending chart (as pointed out by our very own AcerBen) is that hits that have already peaked are included for being non-movers.

Also Blonde, in spite of climbing, are relegated from the chart entirely because they appeared in the Top 10 midweek update last week - despite finally charting at 17.

No midweek update from Music Week today - I was hoping there may have been at least something - though that maybe because they only provide an update on a Monday and Wednesday. Though this week they seem to be having problems with the charts in general as they have published the magazine and have seemingly forgotten to include any charts and Alan Jones' chart analyses. Though that might be because of the long Easter weekend, possibly the magazine had to be published before Friday.

An email sent to the editor to ask where the weekly charts are has yet to be answered...

I think it's more relief that Adele is saving the UK album charts from having 7k selling #1's!

Minty says Zayn is on course for 22k on Friday. The fact he's still not passed 20k at this stage is indeed quite shocking, I'd say!

Considering the time of year and the fact albums are in pretty much a slump until quarter 4 it's not that shocking

and what about The 1975 a few weeks back? They did 60K on first week (40K in the first mids)

I personally think it's a big shocker and a total disaster

I think even with the time of year. I thought my estimate for 30k was quite low at the start of the year. There's been so much buzz and hype around this release.

While sales are low, i did expect much more from Zayn considering its a debut album from one member (former) of the biggest boyband in the world. The opening single has sold very well so on an overall view i expected more. Sales for week 2 for him will be interesting.
Surely Zayn has planned the release of this album during the easter hols so that the kids are more likely to buy it?
