I think he will be too, there's bound to be huge amounts of hype for whatever he does. If I continue with the Spice Girls analogy he'll be Melanie C in terms of commercial success and Victoria B in terms of $$$.

I think that's a good analogy! Harry seems to be biding his time, he's started building some hype with his magazine photoshoots + interview from this week so I think we could maybe hear his debut single before the year is out (although the album is looking to be 2017 at this rate). Pretty much everyone he's worked with has been complimentary about both him and his work so it's looking good :D (or bad for you 1D haters :kink:)

I mean it's not like Zayn has been particularly successful either... seems the interest in his solo career died after just one song (aside from him scraping a #1 abum on extremely underwhelming sales for the first post-1D solo album).

On a Thursday when I assume sales are at their lowest (?) I'm kinda surprised they're climbing as slow as this considering the major hype surrounding them atm. However, it's not giving me much hope for Galantis tomorrow! Eek (but maybe people might have "missed" Galantis as they haven't released anything properly for a while, whilst Chainsmokers are still doing huge things with their newest single.)

 

I do think they'll go on to get a big hit with it eventually though.

Exactly, the general public love them though so I was expecting a bit more - I guess they'll only become aware of the track tomorrow.

Probably. The whole point of New Music Friday is that songs and albums are released at the same time everywhere in the world. Which is also why some songs are released on Friday morning here rather than at midnight.

We can't complain. The large majority of tracks are released at midnight GMT - I wonder how over a hundred other countries feel every single week :lol:

I think most songs are out at midnight local time actually! So we'll get them at midnight, Australia will also get them at midnight. It tends to just be the big artists like Calvin etc who release at the same time worldwide from what I've noticed!

Does it really matter what day a song is released? I think the majority of people who buy music just buy it when they feel like doing so. No matter what time or what day a song is released as long as it's available for people to buy that's all that matters.

 

With this type of logic it used to baffle me when people would say that they stayed up until midnight to download a newly released song, the songs on iTunes or any other download site are available to buy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

It does when you have a big fanbase like Niall who will all buy it instantly :P Those kinda fanbase sales are normally pretty essential in week 1 to attaining a high chart position and he won't have that boost next week, although I think it will do well regardless thankfully.

 

Plus what's wrong with excitement for downloading new music? I love staying up til midnight to download new releases, sure I can get it next Thursday if I want but why wait? Patience has never been my strong point after all :magic:
