December 21, 20169 yr One of the best trends in the end of year Album charts is the rise of the Albums rated highest by the critics. David Bowie, Radiohead and this week Beyoncé have re-entered the Top 100 in recent weeks. Love tracking the aggregate of the End of Year lists Album Of The Year
December 21, 20169 yr Ball/Boe should sail past 100k this week with 115k possible. Top 3 should break 70k, not bad. What position is Christmas by Buble? Would love to know the sales of Robbie in the albums and Mariah in the singles - see how close they are!
December 21, 20169 yr And that's your lot for this year, there won't be any mids for the next 2 weeks due to Xmas and New Year's Eve hols. Normal services should resume 3/4 January, pending if there is any info out there. Merry Christmas everyone and a happy new year, please do not shout for the new thread on Saturday, as info will be very hard to find. Thanks for all your contributions, hope to see everyone back sober in the new year. Thanks for all the hard work Martin!
December 21, 20169 yr Also would there have been charity campaigns if people weren't tired of X factors stranglehold Stop knit picking people he is just adding the non XF release sales - it's not Back to the Future!!
December 21, 20169 yr There are many alterations that would have to be made to "erase" the "X Factor" effect from the charts but the point remains that we would not be looking at a Xmas No 1 selling less than 100,000 for the first time in 23 years without it as that would have happened some years ago with the general collapse in sales we have had in the mid 00s and then again over recent years. :D
December 22, 20169 yr I was just discounting "coronation" singles but if you wanted to remove "Run" then it would have been IF I WERE A BOY- Beyonce (47,092) If I Were A Boy was performed by Beyoncé on the XF final that year. What was #5?
December 22, 20169 yr #5 was “Once Upon A Christmas Song” by Geraldine. A parody by Peter Kay that wouldn't have existed if it weren't for the X-Factor. Maybe we should stop this now! :P
December 22, 20169 yr Well do we include Girls Aloud? They came from the first reality show to go for the Christmas number one and Cheryl was a judge that year, raising their profile. They performed Broken Strings with James Morison on their Christmas special which aired just after the X Factor final. Too far? Haha. Anyway, we can't re-write history as songs would have sold differently and we may have had different music trends. So let's just focus on this year and having 2 Christmas songs in the Top 10. Woooooo!
December 22, 20169 yr Author Glad All Over has went top 40 overnight 40 now. Christmas number 1 is shaking in its boots. :')
December 22, 20169 yr can't wait to see the Rangers fans' reactions to their campaign only putting the song just inside the top 40 whilst Little Mix go top 3  I wonder if they know about streaming counting toward the chart, or even the change of chart date to Friday?
December 22, 20169 yr Dave Clark now no. 1 on Google Play. On iTunes the ratio remains at 1:0.61. Are Liverpool fans also joining in the battle - Gerry & Pacemakers You'll never walk alone up to no. 707?

Well at least they can celebrate being higher than Jo Cox, London Hospices & everything else Greg mentioned as a contender last week  Edited December 22, 20169 yr by WiseManFromLeeds
December 22, 20169 yr so the chart #1 seems sealed for clean bandit Yes, unless by some unforeseen miracle The Dave Clark Five racks up 41,000 copies in one day (bear in mind it hasn't done anywhere near that so far, despite a constant lead on iTunes of around 40-50%). It would actually need to sell at a rate around 5.85 times greater than it has over the past 2 days, so stick that in your pipe and smoke it Rangers fans. Edited December 22, 20169 yr by Doctor Blind
December 22, 20169 yr Dave Clarke Five own the rights to their back catalogue so I'm sure they are rubbing their hands together shifting 15,000+ copies of a single that's 30+ years old.
December 22, 20169 yr Dave Clarke Five own the rights to their back catalogue so I'm sure they are rubbing their hands together shifting 15,000+ copies of a single that's 30+ years old. Yup, Dave has even supported the campaign himself saying he was stunned to learn it went to #1 (on iTunes obvs)
December 22, 20169 yr Actually it be funny, if the Dave Clark 5 track enters the chart at #33, Rangers fans' reactions "Radio 1 didn't play it our tune" they probably think we are still in the dark ages assuming they don't know the top 40 does not get played in full these days.
