Just realised it was released in January 2016 - It seems they have or had a TV show called 'Country Stife' guessing it's included in that and the show has been repeated?

It was on 'Throught the Keyhole'.
I was reading through some iTunes threads on Buzzjack from years gone by recently and it seems like the iTunes chart was a lot more active and competitive than it is now. Does anyone know which years roughly had the highest amount of sales for iTunes or when iTunes had the biggest market share?

After reading some more of these threads I came across some interesting terminology:

"Frontloaded"

"Weekend effect"

"Top 10 effect"

What do these terms mean? if anyone knows.

After reading some more of these threads I came across some interesting terminology:

"Frontloaded"

- Artists who sell a lot in the first couple of days then decrease as the week goes on. Usually the case for fan-base artists.

"Weekend effect"

- People buy the bigger hits for their parties etc..

"Top 10 effect"

- Not really sure on this but I'm assuming once a song goes top 10 it makes the public think it's a good song and encourages them to buy it?

What do these terms mean? if anyone knows.

This is what I think they mean but I could be wrong...

Frontloaded means the song sells more at the start of the charting week then tails off quckly like a hyped up boyband single notorious for this.

Weekend effect means already established songs preventing newer ones from rising due to party playlists/people listening to older rather than newer songs, happened more when the Charting week ran from Sunday-Saturday though.

Top 10 effect means once a song is top 10 it's more visible on iTunes/Spotify lists so may draw in more support that way.

That's my understanding of them anyway!

cqmerqn pretty much got it.

Ok thanks guys!

I wonder if it's possible for a song to be frontloaded in streaming as well? I haven't seen it happen myself.

It's not as common in streaming usually the other way where a song takes a while to pick up but I suppose a good example would be a comeback track which gets a lot of first day curious streams but never much else after, like Lady Gaga's Perfect Illusion.

Although I never actually checked the figures for that one.

Ok thanks guys!

Less likely to happen. Haven't seen it much either

I think album tracks by popular artists often are frontloaded on streaming, as people listen to the album on week one and not as many in future weeks.

Top 10 effect is basically derived from iTunes Desktop which, on the front page still shows the top 10 only on the front page so people bought from there. It still has a (smaller) effect though, as people generally focus on "what's top 10" on iTunes when browsing a lot.

Also, we know you were here in the "more active days" anyway :P

I thought the weekend effect referred to the fact that Saturday and Sunday generally have the heaviest traffic on iTunes. So a song that is only T20 on Saturday may actually sell more copies than a song that's T10 on Wednesday.
Weekend effect would usually dance songs though, I assume it is the same with the Spotify chart.
No, the weekend effect just affects the slightly older big hits, not specifically dance. They are however generally uptempo, because it's fueled by what people hear at parties/are buying to play at parties, so it's doubtful something like Say You Won't Let Go for instance would get much of a weekend effect :kink: while Can't Stop the Feeling does tend to benefit from what I've noticed.
Can't stop the feeling has been around for so long. Does anyone want to hazard a guess at its sales-only sales?

~500k.

 Ella Henderson - Missed

Anyone know why this has got a boost?

It was performed on The Voice last night.

Abz was on Through the Keyhole and he mentioned this. They played a little clip as well.
