Hope Rag N Bone Man gets the number one spot

What'd you guys think of the album?

 

He's fully independent / distributed by ADA (Merky Records)

 

So is Skepta and a lot of the grime MCs today. It's more of the norm now as opposed to a few years ago when they were all doing pop records on major labels. It's done a 360. Anyways, the album is good...a bit "soft"...but I guess those type of records bring diversity and potential for commercial radio spins. Was a nice surprise to hear Lily Allen too and many other great featured artists/personalities like Jenny Francis.

Stormzy is slaying on Spotify top 50 track chart, something like 5 tracks appearing there.

 

Is this a debut album? I've completely missed the Stormzy buzz until about a month ago.

He had 15 songs in the top 50 on Sat, which is pretty much the whole album. His debut yes.

 

I feel like unfortunately Rag n Bone Man will just about overtake Stormzy to claim a 3rd week at number one. Would've been nice to have a number 1 independent album.

I think Stormzy will manage the #1 due to streaming which will be huge. He was never going to be a physical seller, with or without supermarkets stocking it.

Streaming is slowly going down.

I presume Ed Sheeran will stay no1 in the singles this week. How does it work with remixes? Do they get included in sales for a specific track?

Stormzys album only went on preorder at the beginning of February when Big for your Boots was announced was it not?

Yes Pre Order went live same time Big for your boots came out. I hope sales significantly rise after Mid Week.

Yeh so his preorders wouldn't have been that huge so when streams get added we will see it's true sales potential. E.g. RNBM went up for preorder before xmas!

All the alternate version of a song which share the same production are combined, not that I agree with that but that's the rules. So yeah, the acoustic, Galantis, BRITs, Major Lazer, original and Stormzy versions of Shape Of You will all be combined ;)

I don't think the BRITs version was made available was it? COTH was even though it was less than 2 minutes.

I did think people were over estimating Stormzy, but I thought he'd be an easy-ish number 1! Didnt realise it'd be close.

She is, more comfortably than last week, too.

 

Katy Perry is #3, but I think streaming will push her to #5.
