I actually really support the way the charts are now!

 

If they do alter the chart formula thne they should at least keep a true chart detailing all streams and sales!

It's really not half as bad as everyone is making out :lol: I expect most of these tracks will fall quite quickly from tomorrow onwards - I mean the Ed Sheeran domination is going away now so you can expect this Drake domination to die a death similarly quick. The chart's really aren't THAT bad - remember just today's Spotify figures aren't going to at all reflect Fridays chart accurately.

 

This time next month (provided there are no more big album releases) the chart will be back to normal and I doubt anyone will be complaining.

Omg :lol: I think Drake will drop quickly though, especially compared to Ed (his streams are quite a bit less than when Ed's album debuted). But it looks like 20-25 songs in the UK Top 40 this week will be Drake/Ed Sheeran.

How hard is it for the OCC to just exclude streams from those who are obviously listening to the album as a whole (or most of it) rather than picking those tracks to individually listen to? Of all the ways the chart could be 'fixed', this seems like the most logical one to me, it's not excluding album tracks...if people are genuinely accessing them actively to listen to as a standalone song then great, they should be counted, if not then their impact belongs in the album chart.

These are good but not record breaking.. One Dance reached 18.3 million in a week in the US at its peak so these are far far far away from that (as they will drop later this week)

Fair point, but there's no knowing how much a new release is dictated by this, given that many may have headed to Spotify on the Sunday they usually don't due to Drake's new album (with Sunday streamers perhaps doing their usual business), I for one am guilty :D In either case, the impact is driven more by the numbers than the positions, so if Drake's release is timed poorly for maximising streams, it just means that he's not getting those streams.

Yea and the Sunday figures vary a lot. Some songs suffer more than others. For example in Finland the smallest drop was under -10%

I'm now beginning to lose interest in the charts, with all these album tracks filtering the singles chart by Ed Sheeran and now Drake, the music labels need to get on the act.
