April 10, 20179 yr Speaking as a 1D fan, I don't think the core fans really see things like that at all :kink: especially as a lot of them are still Zayn fans. Zayn just has a way more commercial song, that's all there is to it really. But also we're now in a climate where first week sales are generally a bit lower. It would be more fitting to compare total sales of the two tracks in a few months time, and of course sales of the album.
April 10, 20179 yr In all honesty, I can see Shape Of You returning to #1 next week of Galway Girll! Symphony's iTunes lead has been cut dramatically! It will be incredibly tight next week and if any are made 59p it could seal it for them!
April 10, 20179 yr Zayn was always gonna sell more than the others upon debut because he left in the middle of a tour in a very dramatic way and had all the hype/build up since he was the first to release and every one thought he was gonna do something really different. Now that the bands on "hiatus" and they're all taking turns releasing solo music, the hype just isn't as large, no matter who was the most popular member. It's still impressive that Harry's even in the running for #1 as Niall was nowhere close, Louis didn't make it and unless he finds a dull week in the year and does quite a bit of promo, Liam probably won't either.
April 10, 20179 yr I've legitimately wated 5 minutes of my life reading people arguing over whether Harry Styles will be #1 in a midweek chart.
April 10, 20179 yr I've legitimately wated 5 minutes of my life reading people arguing over whether Harry Styles will be #1 in a midweek chart. Trust me, we have had even more pointless arguments in the chart forum before
April 10, 20179 yr I've legitimately wated 5 minutes of my life reading people arguing over whether Harry Styles will be #1 in a midweek chart. It's not wasted time though, it builds the anticipation! If it's any consolation judging by the number of people viewing the forum currently you are not alone!

It will be incredibly tight next week and if any are made 59p it could seal it for them! Last week “Symphony” was up 12% whilst both Ed tracks were down 11-12%, even assuming that it levels off this week, they should be at the very least ahead of “Galway Girl” this week. Therefore I actually think “Symphony” has a much better chance regardless. Last week it was up 12 % (mainly from streaming) and it is trending +44,948 plays week-on-week on Spotify with a concurrent 58K and 36K fall for “Galway Girl” and “Shape Of You” respectively. iTunes sales, as long as they remain constant should have a much smaller effect. April 10, 20179 yr Author From the OCC: According to Official Chart Update data available so far this week, Harry’s Sign Of The Times has shifted 30,000 copies across all formats, leading his nearest rival by two to one Seems like there's a chunk of streaming missing but that lead does look very good for Harry right now.
April 10, 20179 yr From the OCC: Seems like there's a chunk of streaming missing but that lead does look very good for Harry right now. That's probably the glitch Friday morning
April 10, 20179 yr Author Ooh Louisa in the top 40! Issues at 8, will it finish there? We know as much as you right now :kink:
April 10, 20179 yr Looks like quite a bit of streaming data (Sat + Sun ??) missing, I did think it was odd that “Shape Of You” was below “Galway Girl”..
April 10, 20179 yr Same amount of data missing as usual? I expect Harry will be Number 1 but the gap may well be cut. Also, good to see Skin still rising and hope it gets to the top 10 eventually even though I doubt it will happen
April 10, 20179 yr Not much impact for Take That Albums then after their TV Promotion at the weekend.
April 10, 20179 yr Author Looks like quite a bit of streaming data (Sat + Sun ??) missing, I did think it was odd that “Shape Of You” was below “Galway Girl”.. I was thinking this, although Passionfruit's still as high as #6 when it hasn't been top 10 on iTunes so far this week, so perhaps not? Things will even out as the week goes on anyway, a lot of those new entries will drop a fair bit (especially Beyoncé who's not on Spotify).
