June 2, 20178 yr +10 Herd & Fitz (feat. Abigail Bailey) – I Just Can't Get Enough (mid 00s house anthem  , not the only 2005 dance tune to peak at number 11 of course) +9 Air Supply – All Out Of Love (iconic 80s ballad, surprised it didn't do better in the chart) +8 York - The Awakening (never heard this before until today, great trance tune) +7 Rozalla – Faith (In The Power Of Love) (again never heard this before but it is a very good dance track) +6 Prodigy – Fire/Jericho (again, first time I heard this, good tune) +5 Flickman – The Sound Of Bamboo (underground dance tune from 2000, when so many dance songs went top 40 from lots of different genres) +4 Lethal Bizzle – Pow! June 9, 20178 yr Author Voting has now closed, thanks to the 33 who did vote - so let's take a look at the five songs that are going direct to the final, and the five that will be given a second chance in the wildcard round. In order from 10th to first, here are your qualifiers. 10th - Pixie Lott – Turn It Up (2010) (65 points) OvRDJe5a51g 'Turn It Up' was the fifth single released from Pixie's debut album of the same name, and did impressively well for a single so late in the album campaign although just missed on being her third top ten hit. She'd have five more of those however including another #1 single. 9th - Janet Jackson – Someone To Call My Lover (2001) (68 points) KJ1GwDkfliI I'm not familiar with this song actually but Janet Jackson was one of the biggest female pop artists of the 80s, 90s and early 00s so I can't say I'm surprised. This was the follow-up to #3 hit 'All For You', which was her last ever top ten hit, with this just missing out on becoming her 14th top ten hit. 8th - Just Jack – The Day I Died (2009) (71 points) hJhw4QmC_-I Wasn't expecting this to get into the wildcard round really, it's nice enough as a song I guess but there's some songs that just missed the top 10 I'd rather see here. It was the fourth and final top 40 hit for Just Jack, and just missed being his second top ten (following #2 hit 'Starz In Their Eyes'). 7th - Red Hot Chili Peppers – The Zephyr Song (2002) (78 points) 0fcRa5Z6LmU Following their then-biggest hit to date 'By The Way' (#2) this was the follow-up, which couldn't quite become their fourth top ten single but they'd get there eventually in 2006 with #2 hit 'Dani California'. Like many of their songs this seems to be more remembered than their chart peak suggests, so unsurprisingly it earns a place in the top ten. They have three #11 hits in total but don't expect their other two to do so well. 6th - Black Kids – I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You (2008) (100 points) rOV6I4fYnvQ Black Kids only had two UK top 40 hits and their other one only made #36, but it appears people still have a thing for this song. Maybe it's the long title, or just that it's a quite decent song. 5th - Shakira (feat. Rihanna) – Can't Remember To Forget You (2014) (102 points) o3mP3mJDL2k Shakira teaming with the world's biggest female singer of the moment Rihanna was of course going to lead to chart success, and it instantly went to #11, and returned to the top 20 following the release of the sexy music video. It was also her 11th top 40 hit out of 12 so far - she hasn't had a top ten hit since 2009 though she remains a big chart force in Spanish speaking countries. 4th - Beyoncé – Run The World (Girls) (2011) (108 points) VBmMU_iwe6U Beyoncé's girl power anthem became her second #11 hit and to date she's had three, but don't let that distract you from her eighteen top ten hits, and that's just as a solo artist. It was the first single from her album '4' but didn't quite gain the massive reaction you may have expected from a Beyoncé comeback, surprisingly missing the top ten (maybe because it ruins a good Major Lazer song) - although she proved herself again with her next single which would be a big #3 hit. 3rd - The Killers – Smile Like You Mean It (2005) (121 points) l1p_NHFd8jM This became the fourth single to be taken from The Killers' debut album 'Hot Fuss' following the successful re-release of 'Somebody Told Me' (#3) but unfortunately just missed out on becoming their third top ten hit. They'd return there (and to the top three) with 'When You Were Young' and 'Human' however and to this day 'Mr. Brightside' remains ever present in the lower end of the chart. 2nd - Black Eyed Peas – Let's Get It Started (2004) (126 points) IKqV7DB8Iwg Originally titled 'Let's Get Retarded', it was made into a more radio friendly version for the fourth single off the BEPs debut album 'Elephunk'. The first three all made the top ten but this was unlucky enough to miss out. The BEPs would once again make #11 with 'Rock That Body', which is in Group 8. I'm very pleased this is through anyway as it's one of my favourites of theirs (which I can say about a lot of their singles actually, they've got so many goods). 1st - Christina Aguilera – Hurt (2006) (139 points) wwCykGDEp7M Christina, perhaps expectedly, wins from this group with her #11 peaking ballad 'Hurt' - back from when she was still relevant (yes, it was over ten years ago now). It become her 15th UK chart hit (out of 23 to date) following big #2 single 'Ain't No Other Man' and spent two weeks just outside the top ten, though it did outlast many of her top ten hits. Onto the rest of the results now, very annoying that Tough Love and Motorcycle just miss out on getting into the top ten here but they both do well. 01 139 2006 Christina Aguilera – Hurt 02 126 2004 Black Eyed Peas – Let's Get It Started 03 121 2005 The Killers – Smile Like You Mean It 04 108 2011 Beyoncé – Run The World (Girls) 05 102 2014 Shakira (feat. Rihanna) – Can't Remember To Forget You --- 06 100 2008 Black Kids – I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You 07 78 2002 Red Hot Chili Peppers – The Zephyr Song 08 71 2009 Just Jack – The Day I Died 09 68 2001 Janet Jackson – Someone To Call My Lover 10 65 2010 Pixie Lott – Turn It Up --- 11 57 2015 Tough Love – So Freakin' Tight 12 52 2004 Motorcycle – As The Rush Comes 13 52 1995 Saint Etienne (feat.
