I'm so happy with how this is properly taking off. She felt somewhat destined to join the likes of Marina as a "nearly but not quite" kind of name but this being a big hit (and righfully so) sets her up very well for the future.

 

I'm also so glad that this proves that a music video is still important in days where they seem to getting abandoned.

Seeing this as high as #18 in WW spotify charts, it makes my eyes teary...so happy that she is having this success on her own merits!!!

Don't think I ever posted about the video in here but it's stellar. The fabulous choreography keeps me hooked throughout the entire duration, it's so satisfying :heart: as well as the warm feeling of unity conveyed. What a way to sell the song.

 

Dua's career in the singles chart thus far has been such a rollercoaster, with Be The One/Last Dance not doing much, then Hotter Than Hell and Blow Your Mind (Mwah) going top 40 for her, then Be The One actually turning out to be a successful re-release giving her a top 10, as well as 'No Lie' also going top 10 on top of the Garrix duet doing well, then the Miguel duet flopping alongside album release, and now here we are again with this making waves!! I would be over the moon if this could smash all the way to #1. Its performance is already mighty impressive for a post album-single so late after 'Be The One' was first trying to crack the chart.

Well, I've done a complete 180 on this song and video lmao.

Yeah I'm sort of the same. Always found the video stellar but felt the song was only good in a way you'd expect the reserves/post-album single of a newly launched artist to be, and in particular the chorus underwhelmed at first. The sustained hype around it kept me coming back though and I fully understand how special it is now, especially its message and the perfectly complementary visuals.

 

The overall release and reaction put me in mind of 'Fancy' in that the isolated song initially doesn't scream smash, but the fact it's bang on trend sonically, comes with building artist momentum, and is accompanied by a superstar video means it transcends audiences/markets with ease and just keeps growing. Definitely feels like a 'moment' on a large scale so will be exciting to see how Dua progresses beyond it. I'd imagine there'll be a huge desire to replicate the winning formula so hopefully that doesn't compromise the subsequent output too much.

The one two three thing in it reminds me of 'Instruction' a bit.

 

Its a good song, can see why it is doing well but I still prefer Blow My Mind (Mwah).

Indeed. She truly saved this campaign with a perfect single/album. I see LOADS of people getting into the Dua train because of this, searching for the album etc. So happy for her. Exciting times. Top 5 next week please.
