December 20, 20177 yr Also I don't get the hate for this song at all, some of the reactions here seem very OTT! It's definitely the best choice remaining on Witness (not that anything left is a hit really). I can't at this being considered a better choice than 'Roulette'! I love the video actually! My feelings on the song remain the same.
December 21, 20177 yr The aesthetic choice was a little... much, but like with Swish Swish, looking past that I think the intentions were clear. It's a piece against misogyny and sexual harassment, and Katy wanted to depict the lack of progress made towards stopping this throughout centuries. Was it a good message? Yeah. Could it have been executed better? Definitely. I do think that this being a single and not Roulette is contributing to most of the vitriol in this thread.
December 21, 20177 yr I like the song but the video is tragic. She needs to drop the 'comedy'. The video doesn't even suit the song. That rainbow dress with the eye and awful haircut makes me want to poke my eyes out.
December 21, 20177 yr And just like 'Swish Swish' it seems I'm alone in actually loving the video! 😂 I love the aesthetics of it especially. I know nothing else is gonna be a hit, but I would love if this somehow managed to become a UK Top 40 single. She has got the singles spot on for this era, imo. I know people here (and seemingly elsewhere haha) don't like 'Witness' but I really like it. It's def her weakest overall, but there is something that keeps drawing me back to this album, despite not having as many "moments" as her past albums have had.
December 21, 20177 yr It's nice to get another high-budget visual feast music video from her but she urgently needs to STOP with the terrible "humour" that she's trying to put in to her recent videos. I thought Swish Swish was bad but this video is just as physically painful to watch and impossible to not cringe :drama:
December 22, 20177 yr Good lord this makes Swsh Swish look like New Rules by comparison, what an embarrassment of a video
December 25, 20177 yr Well the video has done absolutely nothing for this song on the charts across the world.
December 26, 20177 yr I like the song but somehow the video makes me like it somewhat less! What a horrific video on so many levels.
December 27, 20177 yr I think with technology progressing the way it has the past few years they could have done a much better job with Katy's head at the end of the video.
December 29, 20177 yr This is officially her worst single yet, and that terrible music video just confirms it. Who in the hell thought that 'Hey, Hey, Hey' was even considered for a single release, it's album filler at best and no better than the other previous choice 'Save As Daft' (which was just boring and dire). But this...I mean come on it's not even a standout moment on the album, just kinda there wedged between the title track and the amazing 'Roulette', either one of them would have been a better choice than this awful tripe. I reckon that Katy Perry herself is tanking her own career on purpose, for what reason I don't know, maybe she's had enough of all the pressure and wants to gain control over her own life. Whatever the reason is, this is just kinda sad to see her career going further and further down the crapper, that she may not be able to recover from. None of the singles or album that she's released this year are up to scratch with her old material. The best song she's done this year is 'Feels' and she barely sings on that Pharrelll Williams does most of the vocals on that, and yeah it was a massive hit worldwide, but this won't turn things around for her as she barely has any presence on it, that credit mainly goes to Calvin Harris. At least though it gave her another UK #1, which was a nice surprise as I thought 'Roar would have been her last. I've been a big fan of Katy ever since 'IKAG' and since then she's brought out some cracking tunes (especially the 'Teenage Dream' era). However it seems that after 'Roar' & 'Dark Horse;, her single choices and material just started getting worse and worse. Starting with that awful comeback flop 'Rise' which did NOT get anyone excited for the Olympics, then there was 'CTTR' which was standard at best and no way on par with her previous lead singles, then the 2 awful follow up singles which both pretty much tanked and neither of which created any hype for the album which was just as bad and also tanked, rightfully so 'Witness' wasn't very good at all. I agree with some of these comments the only song left on there that would stand any chance of becoming a hit is 'Roulette', easily the best track on the album and should have been the 2nd single. But it looks like it's gonna be a 'Walking On Air' incident all over again, unless she somehow manages to get a 5th single release from this album, that will only happen if 'HHH' somehow manages to become a hit, but I very much doubt it unless some miracle happens. I predict that this will probably become her first to miss the US Top 100 and in the UK become her first to miss the top 40 or even top 75.
December 30, 20177 yr The album is sooo bad - it's just noise and trash dressed up as pop. It's one of the worst pop albums I've witnessed, up or down there with Funky Dory.
