Mr preorder has arrived and I’m listening now. This could well be my last new now, as I don’t really follow the charts and this album is tacky as and I only bought it as a completist. I’ll delve into the older Nows from now on, aiming to get all 100.

I may change my mind when Now 101 comes out but let’s see.

Disc 1 has 4mins disc space which means they could’ve included “Freaky Friday” or something else like Maroon 5 instead of leaving a gap

Edited by Hadji

We played this in store and it's actually one of my fave Now's. It's perfectly captured the songs of the Summer imo. I still think they shoulda done 2 discs of current hits, but this way, there's a lot less filler and I don't think there's been one inclusion I was against.

The greatest hits disc was nice. But I don't think they should have had 2 songs from the same Nows appear (we coulda done without Wonderwall and I Kissed A Girl (as much as Viva La Vida irritates me lol)) and they shoulda added some other tracks from the volumes in between imo. But ehhh. It is what it is.

I've bought it coz it's a landmark album. My first Now for a while iirc.

They should’ve replaced “Sing” with “Wake Me Up” as a tribute to Avicii. At least disc 2 was filled up with no gaps

that would've been a nice touch, especially as there is no dance music representation on disc 2 as it is (Cher and Kylie Minogue don't really count).

hopefully they include Wake Me Up on NOW NOW instead.

Still waiting for mine to come in the post! Did anyone get one of the tote bags??

Completely agree, what a mess.

According to the NOW website, NOW NOW has a release date of 9th November which is a week or two before NOW 101

I got one today - bought 100 and also the first volume. Loving the 'Now Now' cover as well!

Have to say I agree with Jonjo the flow of the songs works really well on this volume. Got the right balance between new and old anyhow!

I enjoyed listening to Disc 1 earlier, apart from the awful cover of You Can't Hurry Love, the soul has been completely sucked out of the song. I agree that by cutting the filler, it has made for a way stronger Disc 1 than usual, 14 top ten hits on a disc is good going in this day and age. Having said that, I hope it reverts to two discs next time.

Disc 2 is what it is, I guess it wasn't made a three-disc set as they'd have had to push the price up to cover the licensing cost for the new hits on Disc 1. Still, I'd have had Now Years: The Missed Classics or something as Disc 2, with 20 songs that they now have the rights to that they didn't at the time (many of which they already fill the spin-offs with), and have therefore never been on a numbered now. And then left the already canon 'classics' for Now That's What I Call Now at the end of the year.

I do think the booklet could have had more care taken over it. A lot of the 'classics' disc is represented by blurry or low-res images, and Hips Don't Lie seems to be illustrated by the cover of the Indian CD single (?). Also would have been nice to see the tracklisting info, I know they don't do that anymore and offer a link to view it, but the link doesn't go anywhere  Is it even legal to release a compilation CD without a public way to view the artist credits?

Listening to the first Now this afternoon and it's crazy how many of these songs are still so well known today, 35 years later. Even some of the mid-table chart hits are classics. What a time for music!

Welcome back Alex! :cheer:

Hope you can stick around for a bit on here! ^_^

Well Phil Collins' version is not very soulful either. ;) It is however considerably better than the MU4 version. The original Supremes version is definitely the best imo.

I'm sure I did this before but I can't be bothered to find the post so here's a new tracklist prediction now it's been properly announced. I'm going to assume they won't reuse the 'classics' from NOW 100 but I wouldn't put it past them to do just that.

CD1

01. Culture Club - Karma Chameleon [or 'You Can't Hurry Love' just cos it was the first track on the first NOW]

CD2

21. Shakespeares Sister - Stay [unless they manage to get the license for 'Bohemian Rhapsody', and that could even be track 1 on CD1 (as Queen usually only do compilations if they're track 1 disc 1) if they're not going in order, but hopefully they do go in order]

22. Snap - Rhythm Is A Dancer

23. Tasmin Archer - Sleeping Satellite [or Abba 'Dancing Queen' as that was on NOW 23 but it would sound very out of place here]

24. Robin S - Show Me Love [hopefully, they could also have Take That here but I suppose they'll save them for later]

25. 4 Non Blondes - What's Up

26. Meat Loaf - I'd Do Anything For Love

35. Spice Girls - Say You'll Be There

39. Run DMC vs Jason Nevins - It's Like That [Robbie Williams - Angels used in NOW 100]

40. John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John - The Grease Megamix [or Viva Forever, I suppose they could get away with using two Spice Girls songs]

98. Camila Cabello feat. Young Thug - Havana

99. Rudimental feat. Jess Glynne, Macklemore & Dan Caplen - These Days

100. Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa - One Kiss

Much of that will be wrong of course. I expect Girls Aloud will show up too but not sure which of their songs it'd be with. I know I'm missing some mentions of other tracks that were used in NOW 100 too.

Of course, the compilation we all wanted was a compilation of songs that were not included in the main series but get their moment now on one glamourous album.

I have posted this elsewhere before, and it could do with an update (which I might have a go at soon) but this is what I once created to be my own version of Now That’s What I Call Music! Omissions; a 3 disc compilation of the greatest songs to have missed the cut.

Even though people have been so negative towards Now 100 it's already nearly outsold Now 99's weekly sales according to the OCC:-

The 100th edition of NOW That’s What I Call Music is on course for a bumper sales week, with 105,000 copies sold in its first three days on sale.

The figure means the landmark NOW 100 album is set to claim the UK’s fastest-selling album of 2018 so far, a title currently held by its predecessor, Now 99, which sold 115,000 in its opening week back in March.

Released last Friday (July 20), Now 100 features the latest hits of the moment plus a selection of popular tracks from the last 35 years, since the first NOW was released in 1983. View the tracklisting in full here.

OfficialCharts.com recently looked at the opening track of every NOW album, which is meant to reflect the biggest single of its period. Do you agree? Before Now 1, compilation albums were very different in the UK.

NOW 100 has sold in 3 days 10,000 copies less of what NOW 99 sold in a whole week. Wasn’t expecting those massive sales due to the disappointing tracklist
