I think the chart in the on air/sale era are very much what they were like in the 70s/80s where it was very rare for newer artists to debut really high until they had established themselves - I mean groups like Wham/Duran Duran etc didn't get to no1 usually until the beginning of their second eras. Which these days is after 4/5 buzz singles which could continue over a 2 year period before the debut album a bit like Dua Lipa and now artists like Anne Marie!

But some UK urban acts like Ramz with Barking are getting big hits with their debuts, such is the popularity of the genre at the minute.

Well that's more of an exception. Besides Ramz will more likely than not be a one hit wonder, people aren't invested in him as an artist it was just the song that took off. Same with B Young.

Exactly. 'Barking' wouldn't have charted so highly if released in January 2017 and wouldn't chart as highly in January 2019. It was the current popularity of the genre in the charts that enabled such an unknown artist to chart so highly.

Amazing to see Bebe Rexha so high. Could never have predicted a song from an EP no one listened to in August would be Top 5 on iTunes in March 2018!

She deserves so much more. All Your Fault Pt 1 & 2 are fantastic

She really deserved more with the stuff she was doing in 2014/2015 I would say. She's really lost it since then.

Or they've got a new fan - how many sales would you need to get to 422-415... can't be that many

How can they remain together?

Omg, Feeder coming for Albums Chart domination! Probably someone who got dragged to their tour by a friend and now realise how brilliant they are. :D
