Probably a daft question, but will this be counted as a new album or extending the chart run (new peak?) of the original?

Think it depends on whether there’s enough of the original tracks. I assume there is and it’s released on the same label so it should extend the chart run.

Was thinking this too - I thought maybe BMG had got the rights but seeing as it’s Parlophone I kind of hope it’s counted as a re-entry so (hopefully) it outlpeaks the original position.

i think the artwork is very cool and different !! Luv IT !!

Cabt she just release a second christmas album at this point , like why replace half the tracklist and call it the same thing 😅😅

Like this version is only 13 tracks she literally taken away everything from the snow queen edition 😅 how can you call it fully wrapped yet you taken half away

I think they mean this is the final version, ie wrapped up now.

Preordered the Amazon Green vinyl and CD plus the Zoetrope 12 inch….for now. Be interesting to see if any formats sell out prior to release day. The ‘signed’ option has already disappeared so my incentive to order from her store is weakened.

So far I’ve just preordered the Amazon CD & Vinyl (Green versions), mainly because they include XMAS on the track list, so these formats are the “fullest” versions… but also because I won’t be charged for them yet. lol

I’ll see how I feel about any other formats nearer the time of release date. Although as things stand I don’t think I need other CDs/Vinyl - which are just different colours with one track less. I’ll probably succumb to the cassette though!

I’m assuming that this release will end up adding to original Kylie Christmas chart run. Would be fantastic if it was able to outdo #12, and I’d be pretty surprised if it’s unable to do so.

By the way, maybe “Fully Wrapped” can be added to the thread title? 😁 It would let casual lurkers know at a glance that we’re not just discussing the old album! @Liam.k. @Jessie Where

Sorted! @-Jay-

I think we've discussed before but it seems unimaginable that a Kylie album - even a Christmas one - would debut as low as #12 nowadays. Seems right that it should get a Top 10 placing (probably even #1). I don't think it will reach it this year but it'll certainly be a lot closer to a Platinum certification as well!

Some of the new releases Kylie will be competing with -

Depeche Mode - Memento Mori: Mexico City
Olivia Rodrigo - Live From Glastonbury (A BBC Recording)
Sam Fender - People Watching (Deluxe Version)

Album sales are so low in December, unless there are some signed Taylor albums or a surprise release 15k should get no 1. Given the variants and also the strong streaming for the Christmas songs she could get it.

Plus if it is combined with the previous albums the streaming points will be way better…XMAS and Santa Baby downweighted but the rest won’t be and who knows one or more of the other new tracks may also take off on streaming.

Currently on Spotify ITMWTOTY, SCICTT and At Christmas generally pick up substantial streams. One of them won’t be downweighted so could add thousands to her album streams this year. Of course this album chart calculation is just daft but those are the rules!

Even when i heard the new updated release number 1 wasnt really on my radar for it but had hoped it might finally go top 10 which would be good if its going to not count as a new album that its another studio album getting a top 10 peak.

On the other hand if its counted as a new album it will be another top 10 for her but if she challenges for the number 1 would be great seeing her achieve another one.

I had a look at the Spotify streams of everything on Kylie Christmas, in relation to what has actually been included on Fully Wrapped:

Originals:

39,782,829 – At Christmas [Fully Wrapped]

9,151,444 – Every Day’s Like Christmas

9,138,108 – Christmas Isn’t Christmas ‘Til You Get Here [FW]

4,238,261 – Oh Santa

3,527,535 – White December [FW]

1,500,573 – 100 Degrees [FW]

527,145 – Cried Out Christmas

Covers:

247,721,351 – Santa Baby [FW]

38,621,196 – Santa Claus Is Coming to Town [FW]

23,145,605 – It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year [FW]

12,822,775 – Christmas Wrapping

9,757,266 – Only You

8,814,911 – Winter Wonderland

2,815,396 – I’m Gonna Be Warm This Winter

2,594,037 – Let It Snow [FW]

1,678,947 – Wonderful Christmastime

1,549,994 – Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas [FW]

1,409,844 – 2000 Miles

1,133,512 – Everybody’s Free to Feel Good

1,122,839 – Stay Another Day

797,356 – I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday

470,614 – Christmas Lights

I really wish she could have left the Frank Sinatra duet behind... I've always found it to be a bit uncanny valley for her to sing alongside a posthumous artist, and it's definitely one of my least favourites on the album. When looking at the new artwork, the choices of classic covers included on it aren't exactly the most fun ones that could have been selected to match the vibe of the artwork thinking

I think we're probably safe to assume she just doesn't like Every Day's Like Christmas for personal reasons, because discarding the second most streamed original is certainly a bit pointed. Although it's also interesting that Oh Santa is snubbed in favour of a couple of originals which don't stream quite as well as it. Clearly she must have a fondness for 100 Degrees!

I suppose it ultimately doesn't matter a huge amount what is and isn't included on Fully Wrapped, seeing as the songs left behind on Kylie Christmas / Snow Queen will still have their contribution to the streaming points anyway.

With her having a new single I wonder will santa baby do a little better than the last couple of years this year or opposite and not chart at all.

Surely she’s in with a chance - we have 4 vinyl, 4 CDs and a cassette so far.

Not sure if we’ll get anything else - certainly won’t be getting a Spotify Fans First edition due to the Amazon link up 🤣

I'd love if she did but I'm trying not to raise my hopes, and while another number 1 album would be great if given the choice on this occasion I'd love her to get the number 1 single as it could be one of her last chances plus we have waited a long time for another number 1 single whereas with albums I think she will easily pick up another couple of number 1s.

In a way it would feel weird for a #12 charting album (one of just two Kylie studio albums to miss the Top 10) to suddenly become one of her #1s! I'd love it though. I'd be more than happy if it was anywhere Top 10.

I never felt that either the 2015 or 2016 releases were handled as well as they should have been, so it's cool to see Kylie Christmas being revitalised. I guess Kylie and Parlophone want to reframe it as being a much bigger success, and potentially make it so that it brings greater returns each Christmas than it has been.

Whilst that's true, I kind of think it was a different climate in 2015 in terms of multi-formatting not really being a thing to the degree it is now and sales/competition being a lot higher in a healthier market.

By 2016 I know I was a bit like "sigh, not another round of the Christmas album. Get on with new music already!" lol

I think she was definitely a bit too early on the Christmas train!
