December 25, 20186 yr Chart music has been dreadful this year if this episode of top of the Pops is anything to go by.
December 25, 20186 yr Jess Glynne was really rude to the production staff. I've gone off her even more now, she has a serious attitude problem. She had face like thunder during her performance of 'I'll Be There'. I had your comments in mind when I saw her perform! I thought lots of these songs were really lifeless. Can't work out whether there was sound problems or whether it was just the songs not working well when performed live compared to hearing on radio. Sigrid, Rita and George were my favourites and tbf Liam Payne did a surprisingly decent job. The rest, you can keep.
December 25, 20186 yr Author Just watching this now - yeh Jess looked pretty pissed during that performance. It's really cringe the Xmas totp, why do the crowd constantly cheer the whole time Fearne is talking, was so weird. Just used to watching the more professional fun 80s versions these days! The blonde violinist on CB is lovely looking imo! Edited December 25, 20186 yr by Christmasteve201
December 25, 20186 yr I remember James Arthur being the moody one when I saw the 2016 special being recorded, getting angry at Reggie for getting the name of his song wrong ("Say You Won't Go?"). Everyone else was pretty chilled. My Grandma and me were able to relate this year as "Shotgun" for both of us was the only song in the show we knew. The hell was that sausage roll thing?
December 26, 20186 yr The only performance I enjoyed was George Ezra's the rest were rubbish. Music has been really shite this year according to that show.
December 26, 20186 yr Author Shotgun really is a song that crosses the generation barrier and appeals to all! Tom Walkers song reminds me of Sail by Awolnation a lot!
December 26, 20186 yr Shotgun really is a song that crosses the generation barrier and appeals to all! Tom Walkers song reminds me of Sail by Awolnation a lot! Yeah as much as I don't like it, Shotgun will be one of those songs they still play in 20 or 30 years time. It's a timeless pop song and not enough people are making those anymore.
December 26, 20186 yr Author Yes, first time I heard it on the album I was like that will be a huge no1! Good idea for them to show the This Is Me performance from Graham Norton too! Was that in the chart this time last year already?? Rita Ora

It felt weird, we were all forced to cheer loudly and clap hard, then you saw Fearne and Clara somewhere in the corner with microphones talking into the camera but you couldn't actually hear them. It was totally different atmosphere wise to what it seems on the TV.
December 26, 20186 yr Author Too 5 singles of the year according to totp 1) Drake Gods Plan 2) Calvin Harris/Dua Lipa One Kiss 3) George Ezra Shotgun 4) Rudimental/Jess Glynne/Dan Caplan/Macklemore These Days 5) Keala Settle This Is Me 6) Ed Sheeran Perfect 7) Drake Nice For What 8) George Ezra Paradise 9) Portugal. The Man Feel it Still 10) Dua Lipa IDGAF

It was totally different atmosphere wise to what it seems on the TV. That's what I mean it felt forced at home too. Yes clap after a performance but then quieten down while they speak!! Just seemed weird! I still do love my helping of totp each Xmas though. Also they should really countdown the top 10 instead of just jumping straight into the Xmas no1, just seems to be a bit random if they do that. Totp should always be about the chart run down even if it's only on twice a year!

I feel Ariana will be 9th by the end of year, not sure which one of FIS or IDGAF will be knocked out as their sales were basically the same in the OCC report iirc. Yasssss at TOTP showing Keala's performance and Rita/Freya were the other highlights for me  Also looking at the lineups posted on the first page, Anne-Marie wasn't on yesterday was she unless I completely missed her?
December 26, 20186 yr Author There's another episode on Saturday so maybe she's on that? Yes Freya was another highlight for me too. As for the top 10 yes it does seem a bit First 6 months of the year centric lol
December 26, 20186 yr I'm gonna go on the converse and say that I actually enjoyed yesterday's episode. I particularly loved George Ezra, Jess Glynne, Jax Jones with Kamille and Freya Ridings (her dad is the voice of Daddy Pig! Who knew?)
December 26, 20186 yr Best ratings since 2015. The earlier slot actually seems to be helping it, probably due to weaker competition. Should see it safely back for another year. 2015: 2.83m 2016: 1.92m 2017: 2.0m 2018: 2.3m
December 26, 20186 yr Shotgun really is a song that crosses the generation barrier and appeals to all! Well I can't stand it! I really liked 'Paradise' but 'Shotgun' I just find too smug sounding with its lyrics and brassy production. Edited December 26, 20186 yr by SnowflakeSnake❄️
