It'll always hold such a special place in my heart for how it pretty much defined my summer of 2008, and how obsessed I was with it back then. It's a great pop song, and was really refreshing at the time.

Same, even if I am not that bothered by it now.

We were so blessed with Katy, Rihanna and Gaga all taking off in a big way back then.

09. The One That Got Away - 8.32

11 ~ Dafaze, Jonjo, Joseph 10 ~ Jade, Juan Carlos, Medellíam, Klimawechsel, UltraME!

5 ~ gavindeejay, Mack 6~ Jay, Tawdry Hepburn ,

US peak: #03

UK peak: #18

I had no idea this only peaked at #18 here? It felt like a bigger hit for sure. Of course, it infamously ended her 5-#1 streak in the US, which would have had her taking MJ's record from him (I'm not sure if Part of Me counts?) I've always known it was a bit of a fan favourite, but I certainly didn't expect to see it as high as #9 here, out-doing songs like Firework, I Kissed A Girl, Waking Up in Vegas etc. It's never been a major favourite of mine but let's take a moment to appreciate Katy's only good best X Factor performance.

'I Kissed A Girl' one of the defining songs of 2008 that was. Again was obsessed with this as 'The One That Got Away' it isn't one that I really go back to.

08. Wide Awake - 8.35

11 ~ Juliano, Jade, Nick F1, 10 ~ Calum, ...ready for it, Mack,

5 ~ blacksquare, Medellíam 5.5 ~ Andrew. ,

US peak: #02

UK peak: #09

Another one I didn't expect to be quite as high as this, 'Wide Awake' I found quite dull up until really recently. It was a really nice moment on the Witness and I always loved the

which showed highlights from how successful the Teenage Dream era was.

I would've liked The One to be ahead of Wide Awake but I'm pleased it's top ten anyway!

I'm loving Never Really Over now but I really hope it hasn't won, it would feel far too premature!

Last Friday Night is high-key the best song from Teenage Dream so I'm sad it missed the top 10. I don't think I ever want to see the video again though.

Wide Awake is shit.

07. Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J) - 8.48

2.5 ~ NickF1 3 ~ Defaze

US peak: #01

UK peak: #04

And here we have Katy's biggest selling single in America, a gigantic hit! Dark Horse was released as an instant grat for Prism and completely overshadowed 'Unconditionally' and was charting higher than that while it was being promoted. Luckily they moved on fast, and 'Dark Horse' was even bigger than 'Roar' in the US! I have to say I'm not a massive fan of the video, I wish they had not scrapped the witchy-Halloween themed original concept, much like the Grammys performance, which I think suits the song a lot more than the Egyptian theme that they went with. I love 'Dark Horse' and always have, a stone cold bop, but a lot of people dismiss it for its lack of a chorus, which kind of started a trend in the end.

I had no idea that 'Dark Horse' had been THAT successful in the US :o wow! also I'm thrilled that 'Wide Awake' has made the top 10, stunning song and video

It's actually the 6th highest selling song of all time in the US, with Firework very closely behind! Crazy!

Christ :o

I'm surprised to see Dark Horse "only" 7th but there are some absolute classics and Never Really Over ahead of it. It's an amazing song though, I remember it taking a long time to grow on me when it was released but it's absolutely essential for me now
