In the Girls Aloud forum, Liam opened up a poll pitting the pop classics 'Bad Boys' by Alexandra Burke & 'Fight For This Love' by Cheryl against each other, to celebrate the 10 year anniversaries. A couple of "should have been done in the pop forum" cries, due to potential biasedness against tha Burke. So here you go... same poll, different forum. What do the colective minds of BJ think?

It's 10 years since Alexandra Burke was replaced at #1 by her X Factor mentor Cheryl, both of whom had released their first proper debut solo singles.

Which did you favour at the time and which do you prefer 10 years on?

I'm just gonna quote what I wrote in the GA forum...

This is genuinely, quite possibly, the hardest poll I've ever had to take part in on BJ LMAO. I genuinely feel about them both (then AND now) the same. Both absolute SMASHING pop songs and probably my favourite top 2 of all time. Back then I think Alexandra had the edge, but now I think it's Cheryl... JUST. Literally just. They're more or less 50/50 in my affections

WHAT A YEAR <3

I CAN'T COPE.
'Bad Boys' is and always was awful so FFTL by default even though it hasn't aged very well. x
Bad Boys for both, although neither are their strongest offerings. Bad Boys sounded much stronger at the time and now seems very of its time, but FFTL has always suffered from having a weak hook, poor lyrics and slightly garbled delivery from Cheryl, and overreliance on its quite fun video and Cheryl's image at the time to sell it. Ten years on it sounds cheap and tinny, firmly in the guilty pleasure camp.

"cheap & tinny"?! Seriously?? I find the production quite wholesome and filling.
Then I preferred 'fight For This Love', but I think 'Bad Boys' has aged better personally, even if it does feature Flo Rida.
I'm glad that Cheryl is rightfully triumphant in the Pop forum in addition to the Girls Aloud AF! 'Fight For This Love' has always been much stronger.
killing in the name

I like Alexandra's voice a million times better than Cheryl and loved her personality while on XF

but Bad Boys is horrible, terrible terrible song

so the Cheryl song wins by default even if it's just a 6/10 song, nothing amazing...

I do agree the production on it is really cheap sounding (like pretty much her entire solo discography), but I feel like on this song that's part of its endearing charm.

Both two phenomenal pop songs here, still FFTL for both but I feel like 'Bad Boys' runs it close these days. We really didn't know how good we had it at this time, especially compared to now.

Bad Boys for both. It has that extra punch that FFTL misses

Someone may have spoken too soon as it's currently tied!!

Very pleased to see this reaching a wider audience in the pop forum ^_^

Bad Boys then and FFTL now. But they're both most likely in my top 100 of all time, so it's a close run thing. I think FFTL has aged that bit better, Bad Boys feels quite of its time but that was SUCH a time for music.
