You don't typically give gifts at Easter though

There'll be a lot of disappointed kids without eggs then... :P

the correct form is from 1 to 10, so the new decade shouldn't start until 2021 but I gave up trying to explain it to people :D

it all comes from Jesus, after he was born, year 1 started, so 1st decade is from 1 to 10

it's not that after he was born year 0 started :)

I reckon it's not so bad with decades because as was said, they're referred to by the digits that precede them, if people called this current decade the 202nd decade, then there'd be issues with the cut off :P But it's funny to think of how we're used to 0 as a number and an origin point that a lot of people assume there's a year 0, which stops making sense as soon as you take any amount of time to think about it

Where do you get the numbers from

Technically it should be in 2021 but it’s just so much easier to label things like the ‘10s’ or the ‘20s’ with the penultimate digit rather than 2020 also being a part of the 202nd decade (as it uses 1-10 rather than 0-9 which we use). If 2000 is the 2000th year then the millennium/century/decade should have started in 2001, but who actually does that?

Yeah, but millenniums start at year 0 not 1 so by January 1st at 00:00:00 2000 it's been 2000 years. So January 1st 00:00:01 should be the first second of the new millennium and the same goes for decades. January 1st 00:00:00 2020 is the last second of the 2010's and 00:00:01 is the first second of the 2020's.

There is plenty of excitement here in this thread as we wait to find out who will claim this year’s prestigious Christmas number zero.

Echoing what Dircandydircane says, a decade is just any 10 years.

If you want to talk about the 203rd decade (which nobody does), then yes that starts in 2021, but the 2020s starts in 2020. The no year-zero argument doesn't apply.

Besides, if you're going to bring Jesus into it, it's unlikely that he was born the year before 1AD anyway, because we didn't start counting until about 500 years later, and it's thought he could've actually been born 6 or 7 years either side of 1AD.

we're really gone off topic :D

back into the mids, thanks for the update AJ

Rod really pulling away, already 8K ahead of Stormzy and 10K ahead of Harry

Game over then in both charts.

Not surpised LadBaby is that far ahead but surprised Rod has pushed ahead on albums, I thought Stormzy would take at least one of the crowns.

Stormzy's gonna do the Christmas number two double, it seems
haha true, can we bet on that? :D

Thanks for the update AJ! Definitely a foregone conclusion in both charts.

Do you know how far behind Mariah is from the top 5?

Harry looking at 50kish I think that is pretty good for him but the real test is how it holds up. I dont know why I'm getting serious Pink vibes chart wise from it, where Harry wont get a proper hit after the album release.

LadBaby going 1->out

Ridiculous but it is what it is I guess.

Harry is doing super well in the US, surely the album will pick up steam in the UK too.

Harry has 'Falling' in his album. I'm pretty sure it will do decent.
