I wonder if all the attention Ellie Goulding is getting for her part in that car incident might help her? That's gotta be the most publicity she's had in years.

she was also on the news a few months back when she got married

but don't think she needs any publicity, having an Amazon exclusive is better

but why didn't Wham get a reset if they released a physical? the label didn't apply for it?

I get the feeling Mariah will also be stuck on ACR next week despite the single release

I was sure both would get a reset this year with both getting new forms of releases and promo.

And that's before even the second version exploded, he can do 100K easily this week.

I don’t know how many will buy two versions of the track so not sure about 100k. 80k at the very least seems a dead cert. Time will tell. At least it is all for charity and will die out after next week (if not sooner).

A mess, Rod is killing it!

Rod= 40,963

Harry= 33,839

Stormzy 33,118

Where you getting the numbers from?

Don't you actively have to promote for a reset? George is dead, and Mariah hasn't set foot in the UK so no promo? Or am I misunderstanding the rule regards the promo?

I think the record company can request a reset if it’s being actively promoted - I’m sure Wham’s label could have requested a reset on the back of the film, new quality video and new physical format and the same for Mariah too (minus the film :lol: ).

is that all classed as promo though? Loads of songs are in movies, and its the same video? Releasing a format? Is that promo? Are reissues classed as promotion?

Actually performing, doing radio shows etc is what real promo means to me - I'm just old school :)

From the OCC website

Manual Reset – In exceptional circumstances, where a track is being scheduled for promotion, a label may elect to manually reset a track to SCR. This manual reset is limited to two tracks per artist album, only where the track in question is outside the Top 100 and subject to one week’s notice being given from the releasing label that they wish to implement a manual reset. Manual reset shall be strictly subject to Official Charts and CSC approval.

So in answer to your questions yes at the OCC discretion.

Why is that awful wham song doing better than Mariah and why is Mariah flopping this year??

AWFUL? Get back in ur cave! Last Christmas is the ultimate Christmas song <3

Labels have to request the reset, it's not something automatic

would be interesting to know if Wham and Mariah's labels have requested it and what the occ has said

Lucid Dreams got a reset and he's dead so it's not that you have to be alive and go do promo to get a reset

Last Christmas on course to spend its 11th week in the top three over four different chart runs and still never becoming a number one, unlucky.

The Lucid Dreams reset was automatic because it's less than three years old and got the necessary increase to be taken off ACR.

Mariahs sales are doing better this year just the competition is better
The whole back on SCR rule is probably the worst single part of everything related to the current chart. ACR itself fair enough that's fine but dislike the rules to go back off it.

Interestingly the chart show on Friday 27th will be hosted by a guy and gal from student radio. What a chance for them to get a foot in the door.

From OCC.

The Official Chart on BBC Radio 1 will have two special guest presenters filling in for Scott Mills on Friday December 27.

While Scott enjoys a well-deserved festive break, winners from the Student Radio Awards will cover for him and count down the UK's only Official rundown of the biggest 40 songs of the week, kicking off at 4pm.

Hannah Sackville-Bryant and Joel Mitchell, both aged 21, will host one of British radio's most iconic broadcasts.

Yes, unfortunately it will be the most pointless chart ever because it is the week that all the Christmas streams flood the chart making it utterly meaningless.

It's the implementation of it that really messes it up too. Like "Bandit" being above "Lucid Dreams" on the latest chart, because the reset lags behind, and this week "Lucid Dreams" will climb ahead, completely asynchronous with it clearly having peaked (in this chart run) last week. Now the kobbar meta is that an artist's death (if their biggest hit is recent enough) is most chart viable on a Thursday (oh wait that's right they make up the data for Thursday Wednesday, enough time to get off the reset and not too early that the lion's share of their streams are packed into the first chart week. All because people got mad at old songs clogging up the charts for too long.

Its far worst that songs that are old but never charted are on ACR

Whats the logic?
