I would be happier if Biden can win one of Pennsylvania, N Carolina or Georgia so as not to be on the exact 270 number.

All it takes is then one faithless elector to switch for things to look VERY different in the Electoral College...

Georgia could be the one, AP are reporting a gap of 22500 with 2% of votes still to be counted (about 100K). Do we know if these are from Fulton County or elsewhere in the state?

It would also give some "wiggle room" in case Nevada (which looks to have been called rather early by some organisations) ends up in the Trump column.

I am sure quite a few Trump voters might not like Trump much but they just voted for him for one specific policy issue such as for example, maybe because Republicans are pro-life in the abortion debate.

People voted for Trump because when the system does nothing for you, you turn to alternatives who promise to make your life better. You only have to watch interviews with Americans to see this "successful businessman" illusion and he's different to the usual politicians. It's the same in England too where people like Boris cos he is "clumsy and funny" or people turn to Nigel Farage as he drinks pints in Wetherspoons. I think some of his domestic policies are actually quite popular too.

However I will say his original 2016 campaign slogan of Make America Great Again is genius.

Looks like Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb and Chatham are where the bulk of the remaining votes are in GA. The first three are all metro Atlanta and the latter is Savannah. A blue coastal city on the SC border.
That, of course, won’t stop Trump tweeting that the crowd is smaller than for his inauguration.

Yeah that's exactly what he would do! 😅

Sure, but re-using it once you've been president for four years is more of a self-burn than anything and insinuates that he hasn't actually managed to make America great again

You would have thought the slogan would be "Keep America Great" if he's done such a great job lol.

The gap has shortened to only 18k votes according to AP! :w00t:

Yep Trump has no chance of holding on to Georgia now.

We're heading for a 306-232 Biden win then.

He nicked it off of Hot Fuzz!

How can there be any congruence between Florida voting for a minimum wage of $15 /hr and Donald Trump. It's actually insane that some people will have voted for both... I mean, really?

Good morning, early birds! Overnight, both Georgia and Arizona tightened some but are still led by Trump and Biden, respectively. While we aren’t expecting to get our next update from Maricopa County in Arizona until 9 p.m. tonight, Georgia is expected to finish counting its remaining 25,000 ballots today. Elsewhere, Nevada will announce more results starting at noon Eastern, and we continue to get results at a steady pace in Pennsylvania — which may be Biden’s best chance to end this race.

Hopefully Pennsylvania does settle it later today. I'm still quietly confident for Arizona although I guess we'll see.

What I find the most interesting about Florida voting for Trump is that Florida is arguably the state that has felt, and will feel, the most wrath of global warming out of any US State. If global warming continues it will literally be the first state to go under water. Yet they vote for someone who does not believe in global warming and in fact keeps massively contributing to the problem.

This has long been a bizarre quirk of US politics - the same is true on a range of issues people are often polled on. Majorities support the ACA, yet vote for candidates who want to repeal it. Majorities support Roe V Wade remaining the law of the land, yet support candidates who want to repeal it and Justices who would gut it. I guess on some level it’s to do with people feeling “divided government” is better - whether this be on the state or federal level. I’d wager a lot of it comes down to the nature of US politics and especially the presidential elections ie. people voted for a 15$ minimum wage because they recognise its good for them, but for Trump because he’s “stronger” or “better on the economy” without necessarily considering that he is actively opposed to those things. It’s such an odd way of compartmentalising.

I would greatly welcome that result.

The remaining votes in GA need to go 68-32 in favour of Biden according to Nate Silver, which is very achievable apparently.
Looks like 5pm GMT is a key time for today - Georgia and Nevada expected to update on a considerable number of results around then. Fingers crossed the updates will be substantial enough for the networks to call them.
This is getting tasty. The Democrats have messed with the wrong guy, Trump will fight this.

We all know what the Democrats have tried to do, they just didn't expect Trump to increase his vote from 4 years ago. That's why the Democrats plan has failed and will be proven to the whole world.
