January 14, 20214 yr It's not known yet if it was a mistake or not as we've not been left a month even yet. Ask me again in 5 years if I'm still alive. No one, least of all me, said there won't be teething problems. Wouldn’t you have rather had no problems than teething problems?
January 14, 20214 yr Wouldn’t you have rather had no problems than teething problems? Yes of course but hey life's not always problem free is it. We needed to leave the EU. That was the most important thing. Edited January 14, 20214 yr by common sense
January 14, 20214 yr (see his total ignorance of what no recourse to pupil funds means, which any MP that actually participates in casework should have direct experience of) MP's don't always know everything. My MP in Barnsley didn't know that Incapacity Benefit, now ESA, for illness or disability, is not classed as public funds. :o I know it sounds strange as it is paid from public funds. I contacted him about something when getting married to a foreigner in 1992 and he said it's still a benefit so she wouldn't be allowed to stay. Yes, but as it's a CONTRIBUTIONARY benefit it's not classed under immigration rules as public funds. The UKIAS immigration advisors in Leeds knew of course and they said all embassies will know but he didn't. He just assumed all benefits are classed as public funds. We let the UKIAS do our application for wife visa as they knew the rules. Edited January 14, 20214 yr by common sense
January 14, 20214 yr Author Thanks for the annecdote Chris, but the point here is that there is an ever-so-slight difference from being an MP to being the Prime Minister. Your job is to be across the detail - particularly across the most important promise you made in order to obtain a mandate to govern. Please accept that at least.

Yes but it was said that as he'd been an MP he should know about recourse to public funds. I just pointed out that not all MP's know every aspect of every rule. They can always look them up as often the CAB does when helping clients. Gosh I'd be astounded if Boris knows every law and rule inside out. Besides he wasn't even the negotiator at the talks. January 14, 20214 yr Yes of course but hey life's not always problem free is it. We needed to leave the EU. That was the most important thing. But why? What have we gained? Are you saying we had to leave because life was too easy? Edited January 14, 20214 yr by T Boy
January 14, 20214 yr Well Boris doesn’t know about No Recourse to Public Funds either. I was finding the example from last year but I see he’s made no effort to look into it as this is from TODAY: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-...t-b1787219.html
January 14, 20214 yr Yes of course but hey life's not always problem free is it. We needed to leave the EU. That was the most important thing. Need? NEED?! f***in hell.
January 14, 20214 yr Need? NEED?! f***in hell. Well I'll rephrase it for you. People who voted Leave thought we needed to leave the EU for various reasons.
January 14, 20214 yr Well I'll rephrase it for you. People who voted Leave thought we needed to leave the EU for various reasons. Well that makes the pointless awful situation we are in SO much better. My fave new phrase for ‘leavers’ - Project Here not Project Fear. And they have the utter breathtaking nerve to moan now about the foot shooting situation we are ALL in. I’m feeling ranty today.

January 14, 20214 yr If we've left the EU then surely the same rules should apply as if a musician wanted to go play in Manila or one of theirs comes here? What is wrong with having a mutual agreement between neighbouring countries? When it comes to musicians, this arrangement was overwhelmingly a net benefit to the UK but Johnson refused an offer to continue it.

Seen a lot of people on twitter say we should feel sorry for her. I profoundly disagree. This is the consequences of her own stupid actions and she should bare the responsibility and consequences for her decisions

January 14, 20214 yr I feel sorry for her. Poor woman. Do you regret the way you voted? If not, I don’t believe you.

January 14, 20214 yr Do you regret the way you voted? If not, I don’t believe you. No of course I don't but to lose all that. She should be compensated by the Government.
January 14, 20214 yr Author I feel sorry for her. Poor woman. I'll save my sympathy for those that deserve it.
January 14, 20214 yr No of course I don't but to lose all that. She should be compensated by the Government.  You’re great entertainment Chris.
