December 24, 20204 yr There's a very simple test. Is the deal better than (or at least s good as) the deal we had as a member of the EU? If not, why should any MP vote for it? ANY deal has to be better than staying in the EU. I personally can't wait for January 1st. Edited December 24, 20204 yr by CHRIS-TMAS
December 24, 20204 yr ANY deal has to be better than staying in the EU. I personally can't wait for January 1st. And we’re still waiting to find out how a deal can be better than one involving no tariffs, no quotas and no red tape.
December 24, 20204 yr Agreed. Tory comms essentially seem to be brief catastrophe so disaster looks triumphant. How quickly are the media going to fall for this today?
December 24, 20204 yr ANY deal has to be better than staying in the EU. I personally can't wait for January 1st. The EU has literally no impact on your life. Jesus Christ.
December 24, 20204 yr The EU has literally no impact on your life. Jesus Christ. It impacts ALL our lives. Half our fruit and veg. comes from Europe. Why were we all given a vote in the Referendum then?
December 24, 20204 yr That is a good question. Why were a bunch of thick racists given a vote on something they don’t even begin to comprehend?
December 24, 20204 yr It impacts everyone living in the UK - e.g. it gives money and investment to the deprived areas of the country that the government isn't interested in helping. They aren't getting that money back.
December 24, 20204 yr It impacts ALL our lives. Half our fruit and veg. comes from Europe. Why were we all given a vote in the Referendum then? Yes, and thanks to the EU, that produce has been distributed to the jobs just as easily as if it had come from the UK. A delay of even a few hours at the border is a long time for something like a lettuce.
December 24, 20204 yr We don't need no EU!!1 Take back control of our borders!!1 Down with Brussels!!1... But what about Brussel sprouts?! :o :o :o
December 24, 20204 yr It impacts ALL our lives. Half our fruit and veg. comes from Europe. Why were we all given a vote in the Referendum then? Are you taking the piss?
December 24, 20204 yr Just caught up on the news....great...time to celebrate becoming somewhat poorer, instead of a lot poorer. What a strange nation the UK has become.
December 24, 20204 yr It impacts ALL our lives. Half our fruit and veg. comes from Europe. So... where is it going to come from without a deal with the EU then? Narnia?
December 24, 20204 yr They will scrutinise it and probably say it's a bad deal. But I would say the best thing to do is abstain, otherwise they have no right to criticise the bad deal. It's the easy way out but why would they vote against it? It makes no sense politically. And I still think a bad deal is better than no deal. They have to position themselves as it would undermine Starmer for the rest of this parliament and make them an easy target. Agree then criticise leaving the Eu on such terms going into the next election!
December 24, 20204 yr How quickly are the media going to fall for this today? Very quickly, took a look at the newspaper headlines in the shop earlier and it was all a picture of Boris glory in his last minute negotiating skills a a triumph for Britannia!
December 24, 20204 yr Just as I suspected, delivered on Christmas Eve, with plenty of 'ooh will it happen' before, Boris painted as 'saving Christmas' a day after further restrictions. Classic PR, but I'm sure I will take this trustworthy government's word that we have a totally transparent and great deal that we would be just as well off if we were inside the EU and nothing's gonna go wrong now, YAY :cheer:
December 24, 20204 yr "The UK will leave the Erasmus scheme". And the 1st sentence of Labour's 2024 manifesto sprung into existence that day.
December 24, 20204 yr Roaming charges are back as a result of this deal. As those of you with a long memory may recall, it was this worry that ended up clinching my "Remain" vote back in 2016.
December 24, 20204 yr So... where is it going to come from without a deal with the EU then? Narnia? Haven't you heard? Other countries need to do what "Britannia" wants without expecting anything in return! The entire EU is biting their nails and praying to get the UK's potatoes! Very quickly, took a look at the newspaper headlines in the shop earlier and it was all a picture of Boris glory in his last minute negotiating skills a a triumph for Britannia! "Great negotiating skills" only appeared at the last possible moment because gambling with people's future is what country leaders are supposed to do. Are you even hearing yourself? That's either fangirling level 700 or blatant trolling or both but I'm very inclined to think it's the latter as in trolling.
