Huge congrats Leww on another winner. Wasn't a big fan of the song unforch (let's not make 2020 another year of underwhelming winners plz). In fact, I didn't really like any of the top 3 :ph34r: Good to see Altyr up there tho, and a few more of my votes in the top 10.

 

But a poor result for my big faves. Thelonia in 22nd isn't too bad but East Ruk & Botanikka deserved much more!

Thanks Cody, 3rd is amazing, my highest in nearly two years and pretty much the best I realistically hoped for. I didn’t expect a win despite all the buzz (and lucky I didn’t as not quite sure I’d have had the time to host at this moment in time) but to score over 300 points and get another top three result is fantastic and what a stellar top four, all so good :wub:

wd leww for the win, plot twist: you passed hosting on to me so that it didn't mean you're hosting 2 finals in a row xx (if indeed you're hosting next month). great song, definitely my favourite of the songs tussling in the top 4 so hooray! i kinda hoped it'd stay closer between the top 4 at the end there as nina ended up jumping into a pretty clear lead going into the last 10 votes but ah wells x happy to see hendinia get top 2 as well and fsr completing the top 3, i didn't vote for either but both very solid whereas i'm not a fan of gareth emery's song at all oops (can we retire him from the contest now pls, 3 top 5 hits is enough especially when 2 of them are very mediocre x).

 

i am not surprised at flj doing well but i wouldn't have predicted them as high as 5th! fantastic stuff :wub: good results for summericia and jadakissnia in the top 10 too (though sad that trifoski missed out on a surprise top 10 on a tiebreak </3). also yay for good results for arcodesia, dobago, lotunia and daehun + rolloland returning to the usual high 20s glass ceiling for post-rock entries :magic: i wasn't a huge fan of taahino's song (did grow on me a bit though, it's kinda cute) but that coming as high as 7th is a big surprise to me, wd lindsey on a rare top 10 x

 

pretty disappointingly low finish for unovia :( and utopia deserved way better too but they were a surprise qualifier so wasn't really expecting much. bøtanikkä most definitely didn't deserve last place either!!

 

very much happy with 16th place for myself, that's more than enough redemption for 'gold' dnqing and a fantastic result for an all male rap song with no hook :wub: thanks to all who voted especially mack/jade/math for the 3 18s yay xx this is now the third year in a row that i have finished in the lower quarter of the top 20 in the first contest of the year argh (17th in 2018, 18th in 2019 and now 16th).

(actually double checking the leaderboard as i still hadn't looked at the one lew sent to me - there are some slight differences so some things i posted might change a bit as i might have made errors trying to do everything all at once xo will post the link to that + the semi results once i have verified everything)

I feel like this was another one of those contests where I wish I was in the final and as a result more invested in the contest bc I did come up with a strong group of songs to vote for but I was lacking the interest and time to dive in more

2nd place in semi 1 having just short of double the points of 3rd place, madness! but very close between the top 2 with fsr rontvia edging aeroche

 

the 4 big contenders were just the top 2 of both semis, makes sense

 

it appears trifoski would have dnqed if not for republic of adonia submitting late votes (which i didn't know they even did), yet went on to come 11th in the final :o

 

also impressive that east rukahavian were top 10 in the semi even with the 15% deduction (and would still have qualified if they had the full deduction), but still came pretty low in the final

 

12th in the semi for me, semi 1 seems to have been kinder x

really happy with 12 - it’s actually my lucky number (wrong thread, i know) so hopefully that bodes well for next contest.

Oh bish I think that’s my tightest qualification margin in the semis in at least a very long time!

I went to bed at the nice, sensible time of 23h30, when the results were still being announced, and have woken up shortly before 4am and am now wide awake. Why.

 

Congrats Aeroche! I think I was cheering Hendinia on so much because it's rare that I'm more of a fan of a Hendinia song than I am an Aeroche song. But the winner was also good.

 

Also delighted that Fljótavík did so well as I've been spamming the shit of it.

Very good winner, I had a strong feeling Leww would win it with something that sounded like that, and I'm very pleased, it's a great song, congrats Leww! Though any of the top 5 would have been solid winners, very much a BJSC where I can't really disagree with any of the popular tracks.

oh yeah the positions for the dnqs weren't posted until now - i didn't really think to look at those for some reason, i now see that terra avium and skall (my fave dnqs in their respective semis) were both only one place off qualifying. :( flynnonda really farrrr too low as well (and deandria)

Well done Lew, you make it look so bloody easy :lol: So happy to have finished 2nd for only my second time ever, after a wealth of 3rd placers, I would love to have hosted after like 9 years but it’s been super exciting to be properly in the running full stop. The top 3 is fantastic aswell, so I don’t feel like I’m out of the BJSC loop for once. Great hosting from Kyle and Bra aswell, definitely want to keep this run of enjoying the contest up :wub:

That semi result :o Still in awe of Aeroche’s power, I feel like Federer, an aging but enthusiastic trier looking to add to my ancient wins tally but never quite getting past a stronger force :lol:

 

Agree with you Rob though that after a year of mostly peddling midtable or worse it’s great to be back in the mix properly. I won’t expect it to last but it’s good to know that I haven’t completely lost it!
