yes that's correct, and judging by the tosspots out in hordes in the sunshine today, and the twats on social media insisting that's it's just a bad flu and only the elderly and the weak should be self-isolating, it's going to be just as bad here. China's graph OTOH shows what can be done with an effective response to cut off those escalating peaks.

My little message for the selfish: For the avoidance of doubt, perfectly healthy doctors and nurses dont die of the flu, lying unable to breathe coughing up pink gunk and needing to be on ventilators that aren't there. That's more like pneumonia. Having pneumonia is a complete f***er, I know. I've had bad flu many times and it's not the same at all.

people who have asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes and the like are not "underlying condition oh they would have died from flu anyway" virtually on their death-beds as some would have you believe. Anyone who deliberately ignores advice and thinks it's OK to spread a fatal disease because they don;t care about other people need to be called out for what they are.

1% death rate, 7.7 billion in the world, I make that 77 million dead if left to it's own devices.

Re: Boris, he's being led by Dominic Cuntings who wants everyone to catch it and let whoever dies die so that industry and profitability dont get hit again in the autumn/winter by another round of the virus. Rich people concerned about money and not remotely concerned about people. That's the type involved in running the UK, the USA and Russia, currently.

Exactly been saying that from about a month ago, and as you say right wing conservatives still have that survival of the fittest mentality.

The thing is the experts said about a week ago that people still can visit parks and walk outside and now too many people are that they are going to have to close them. Not just the people's fault for visiting them then, but people should have turned back when they noticed there were too many people there.

Also the National Trust opening their gardens for free backfired didn't it. As I predicted it would on here.

Subway is closing from today, including for deliveries. In wondering how many other places that we expected to pivot to deliveries over the next few weeks will also do the same.
NO ENFORCED LOCKDOWN!!

You ate showing a bit og an authoritarian streak the snake!

Usually I would be against restriction of freedoms but desperate times call for desperate measures. You have to go HARD to beat the virus!

If the government would have done more sooner with social distancing controls and banning flights from Italy much sooner maybe lockdown wouldn't have been needed.

But yes I understand people still have to walk their dogs and people going out on short walks with no social contact to get air and exercise shouldn't be prohibited.

 I loveeee Subway. Let's hope not internationally.

There's another potential issue on the horizon. There seems to be a decent chance that a test for antibodies will be available within a month or so. That means it will be possible to test for people who have had the virus but not really shown any symptoms.

Obviously, that will be great for identifying people such as NHS staff who can be deemed safe to work with minimal chance of contracting it again. However, there will be plenty of other people wanting to be tested so that they can move about more freely. Managing that will be yet another challenge.

Spot on!

The right to do whatever the f*** you want to do only applies if doing whatever the f*** you want to do doesn't kill other people.

If it just killed the twats who don't care about their own well-being, then we could all rejoice as they removed themselves from the gene-pool or at least got a well-deserved miserable fortnight in bed. That they are not remotely bothered about killing me, my family and my friends is something I take personally, and if it takes enforcing them to stay indoors until it's safe again then that is what needs to be done. I haven't spent the last decade of my life keeping people alive so some tossers can kill them cos they can't be arsed to listen to reason and have to have it imposed on them instead.

I think colourful language is often needed to hammer the point home, a well-placed expletive does wonders for underlining a short statement.

The Netherlands has seen a decline in daily cases for the 2nd day in a row. Lemme pray we keep this up
Russia released an official prayer for Coronavirus so you can use that maybe

Maybe along with the controls, the increase in UV light outside with the sunny weather recently there has had a bit of impact - as I said before UV light does kill viruses.

Would be nice if it peaks earlier and a bit lower than expected. Hopefully that will happen where I am in Northern Ireland where our confirmed cases are still below 150 with 2 deaths with control measures already in force like the rest of the UK and Ireland and probably enforced controls coming very soon.

UV light doesnt kill virusses inside people? Taking into consideration that the incubation time is in average around 5 days, I highly doubt the sunny weatherbhas anything to do with it

Was listening to a long discussion from a doctor on twitter and tbf they did say that sunlight offsets the effect of a given virus due to the natural vitamin D is exudes but no it doesn't kill it

I lost my job today.

As I was new all of us who stated in February like I did just got told thanks for everything but after 5pm you won’t be needed anymore.

Barbour (who I work for) closed all retail stores too and as my job was more office based they’re moving to working from home but I was unable to do that work as I hadn’t yet been trained for some of it.

Deaths and new cases are also down for a 2nd day in a row in Italy (I think this was pretty much expected given the amount of time that passed since the lockdown started but still good news ofc).

Also:

The anti-terrorism laws have to be renewed every 28 days. Even the emergency powers in WWII had to be renewed annually. The government's proposals contain no such provision. That is why people are calling it a power grab.

The coronavirus bill has apparently been amended to require renewal every 6 months.

The official word from Scotland’s grown up commander in chief.

Howling.

(Also while not understanding half of what is being said)

Sorry to read that Jordan. I'm not too sure about the new rules regarding payment, do you still qualify to be able to claim?

I’ll enquire this tomorrow I was agency staff so it’s likely I might not.

But I have like 7 days worth of pay to get off them as I done a 6 day week last week and then today as well. Likely going to be getting my holiday refunded soon too so luckily I’ll have enough to get by :) helps I still live at home with parents too!
