In all seriousness though I am extremely happy with 3rd place of course, continuing to lock in getting at least one top 10 per year (exactly a year since my last x) and this is only the second time I've ever got over 300 points so huzzah *.* thank you very much to all who voted for queen 070, especially once again Bal, Jonjo, Lewis and Seven for the 18s :heart:

 

Despite some of the predictions I am actually pretty surprised that KEiiNO did as well as 2nd place but as with USoJ's song it was very close to getting points from me so I can't be mad at it at all - this is a very pleasingly high quality top 2 considering how overtly poppy it is which is normally something I'd be moaning about x Also well done Jonjo on your bombshell 18 for me just avoiding being the ultimate foot shoot to deny yourself the silver medal :lol: Coming 3rd instead of 2nd at least has the silver lining that I don't have to gamble on whether my next entry will be an AQ or not :kink: not sure what I'll be sending next month, I have one potential but idk if I am fully behind it yet so I may have to search some more.

 

Hushky getting comfortably the highest anniversary entry is a big surprise to me too (I liked 'Kintsugi' wayyyyy more than this one) but congrats Cameron on pulling it off! My fave result from the top 5 is of course Bøtanikkä grabbing a 5th place :wub: matching the result of 'Ilumbarada' seems appropriate for this! And then also thrilled to see D'yermak'er and especially Séyetana getting top 10s, hooray for the great response on BeatSense for the latter actually translating into significant success after all *.* 8th is an unreal result for such an out-there hip-hop entry.

 

A ton of my faves ended up in the 11-20 section, especially good to see Rolloland doing so well, and Tartford pulling off a top 20 with a storm of 18s after floundering for so long earlier on. It's a real shame that 'Ageispolis' missed out on the top 20 (though again good that it picked up a lot from earlier at least), had a feeling it was being a little bit overpredicted though as it is ultimately still a rather niche song even if it is an all-time classique to me ~ Aelandor and Vülkyria both deserved much better too though not sure I'd have predicted them to do better than they did. FLJ sticks out as the most surprising underperformance there! (apart from maybe Klum Rep which I didn't think would be a big hit contender but definitely didn't deserve to be floundering in last place all night D: x)

 

And also hooray for 070 being a semi-final winner as a small silver lining :cheer: My 5th semi-final winner (and all of the previous ones also ended up coming either 2nd or 3rd in the final, I need to be coming 2nd in the semi to actually win the final xx).

what's the record for biggest regression from the semis? I think Sandenia might be close to it?

 

Sandénia have in fact broken the record for this! They've gone projected 6th to final 37th (-31), which also neatly makes the holder of that record less debatable - technically the old record was Rykka's 'Movies' which went projected 9th to final 39th (-30), but that was only after it got a deduction in the final. Ignoring that the old record was Spacetrain's 'Salsa Me' going projected 7th to final 36th (-29), infamously being bottom 3 in the final after winning its semi. x

Great hosting Rob, really enjoyed the format of the final and the effort you put into each of the stages.

 

Finishing in the 30s, not quite the 23rd spot then! Not too disappointed as I had no ideas for what to send to this contest, I wasn’t expecting much going into it. A shame Rolloland couldn’t quite snatch a top 10, really happy to see Persephonia and Botanikka in the top 5 though ^_^ I didn’t point either of the top 2 but they were both okay also. Good to see some success for Seyetana also, especially bringing a different genre to the top 10 *.*

as we're all posting it, this was my commentary as you can never have enough Woody Woodpecker in a thread.

 

When I was a kid in Singapore me and my brother belonged to the Mickey Mouse Club - we got bussed to an RAF building in Siglap, suburbs of the city - which showed Woody Woodpecker cartoons! :lol: They couldnt afford Disney I think, but ancient Woody Woodpecker was budget-friendly

Yeah, having slept on it this is a really outstanding result for something I just thought I'd send to send something different, so many high points really made it a good experience to follow (and that incredible BeatSense reaction that's still making me smile to think about), even if I literally did stay up all night to see the results. That's really set my year right.

 

Thank you so much to Rob for such an excellently presented hosting, the spokespeople really gave every country's votes a little extra character and the scoreboards were perfectly well done. Looking forward to going over to USoJ next month.

 

shame Adonia couldn't quite keep their top 10, but great to see Ayu doing so well even with a handy dance remix, and Persephonia 3rd, Ojnoj 2nd, Botanikka 5th, really great for so many good songs (and not even a bad result for Aelandor as though I thought it was amazing I didn't think too many others would support it xx)
