True, and you're very right about literally every sale counting - last week there was even a tie for #100 so it really can make a big difference!

What happens with a tie again?

The Weeknd gained 9000 on Tom today. At that rate it could well be a dead heat on Friday. Will phantom Thursday stream syndrome mean the Weeknd snatches the No1 at the last minute?
Actually the release is a bit of a mess as it seems some physicals have made it out whilst others are saying ‘coming soon’ The green vinyl is definitely not out until May 1st as I pre-ordered it although that’s only 500. I think she’ll creep into the charts at some point especially with R1 on board.

'XS' will more than likely be dropped from the playlist this week and there's no guarantee they'll playlist any future singles. Let's hope she can chart when the physicals are released.

But The Weeknd only gained so much today because the Apple and Amazon streams that were missing in yesterday’s update have been added now. For that reason I doubt Blinding Lights will continue to gain that quickly, see this post I made earlier:

I think the missing Amazon/Apple streams from yesterday's update are up to date again now, would explain the sudden boost for Blinding Lights (increasing by 11k in today's update after 6k in yesterday's update) and Ava Max returning to the midweek top 40, so I don't think Blinding Lights will continue to increase at the fast rate we had in today's update.
Decca have sent out an email to their database - the first part of the email encourages people to watch the video on YouTube so they obviously know that will get them a few streaming sales, they also link the iTunes and Amazon downloads - some morning TV media coverage would help give it a final push tomorrow.

I think Rina has a good chance of continuing to be supported by R1 now she's on their radar (even if that's just repeatedly stalling on the C-List).

It def needs that last push, i will be really disappointed if the weeknd pips it at the lats minute.

It will be so sad if they don’t get the #1 spot The Weekend has had more than enough time there now...

Exactly - The Weeknd can take it back next week!

I hope so, but they always seem to drop artists as soon as I start liking them (I'm thinking specifically of Grace Carter here).

At a guess, sales today will be:

1: YNWA - 65k

2: BL - 52k

and if missing Wednesday streams were included in the midweeks, 'Blinding Lights' would be on 60k

but unfortunately when the Thursday sales / streams are included on Friday it will be:

1: BL: 71-73k

2: YNWA 67k

I hope I'm wrong though!

Radio 2's Breakfast Show encouraged listeners again to buy YNWA this morning, mentioning that it's a close fight for number one. They're clearly doing what they can to give it that last push!

Michael Ball is still doing the same as yesterday on iTunes, roughly 3 times more than Blinding Lights

so there has not been much effect if he's pushing for more sales

The data hasn't updated for the time since that push on the breakfast show though, so we'll have to wait and see if that has any influence.
