December 20, 20231 yr 1st Electric Six - Danger! High Voltage (22/36 Votes) [61.11%] R-FxmoVM7X4?si=BiS9haUeo9oxnfD3 The outrageous 'Danger!, High Voltage' wins out this survivor and one that the majority were championing from the start. The song by American Rock band Electric Six peaked at number 2 in January 2003. It was originally recorded in 2000 when the band was under a different name Wildbunch but ran into issues with another group under The Wild Bunch, a trip hop act who pressured them to drop their name. The video is also known for the singer Dick Valentine and actress Tina Kanarek as a wealthy couple outfitted with a bright flashing codpiece and bra respectively set in a manor house with paintings featured by Brian Rea. Electric Six would score 3 more top 40 hits with the other most well remembered being 'Gay Bar'! 2nd Travis - Sing (14/36 Votes) [38.89%] eYO1-gGWJyo?si=2C8IgWEpG06e1_Sy and 'Sing' comes runner up. The highest chart single for Scottish band Travis which went top 3 in June 2001. Fran Healy wanted to call the song 'Swing' originally but changed it to 'Sing' which made the song about overcoming relationship troubles and not being afraid to let oneself go and sing in front of loved ones. The video is a lot of fun as well which got an exclusive premier on Top of the Pops and features the band attending a dinner party which ultimately ascends into a food fight. In some ways this was the perfect top 2 as far as videos go. Both memorable! 3. Chicane Ft Tom Jones - Stoned In Love (15/33 Votes) [45.45%] 4. January 23, 20241 yr 1st Natalie Imbruglia - Shiver (22/41 Votes) [53.66%] ZwAd_ag9Q0E?si=8HsVujgxqYDYZT1h What became Natalie's 5th top 10 hit over here.. 'Shiver' picks up the win over faves Coldplay here. It peaked at 8 in March 2005 and was directed by Jake Nava who directed music videos for stars such a Britney Spears and Holly Valance in the past. The video was inspired by the movie The Bourne Supremacy and was filmed in Kyiv Ukraine during the winter months to give it a bleak appearance which is nothing in comparison to the news in Ukraine now of course. The song was covered by Maximo Park as part of their Radio 1 Live Lounge that year. Natalie would nab a further two top 40 hits following this and then in 2007 she released her greatest hits but no further success came through thereafter. 2nd Coldplay - Violet Hill (19/41 Votes) [46.34%] IakDItZ7f7Q?si=YJECent00Oahfpcd After being away for a couple of years... in came the fourth studio album Viva La Vida Or Death To All His Friends and the first single from that was... 'Violet Hill' for Coldplay which peaked at 8 but was overshadowed by the song that followed it a few weeks later. An interesting intro with the piano and repetitive guitar sound, the heavy marching tempo and drums also involved quite noticeably. The song was the first anti war protest song by the group too. {copied some majority of commentary from the Coldplay rate} It picked up 19 votes from 41 but ultimately settles for runner up which is just as impressive bad feat at all really and a fun fact for this final top 2... they both peaked at 8 in the UK Charts :magic: one for Riser/Jordan if he reads this :P 3.
