I am over the moon with this win as a huge fan of the ‘phonics, the Welsh band have shown no signs of slowing down despite singles success now eluding them. Back in March 2005, almost 8 years after the release of their debut, there was still thirst for Stereophonics singles and their twentieth top 40 hit, Dakota, became their first and only no.1 single. Sales were pretty low back then and it was the tenth out of 11 one week no.1s at the time. Though it fell like most of their singles after the first week, the single’s decline slowed thanks to the addition of downloads to the chart a month later. It was also the first no.1 to be announced on the (awful) JK & Joel chart show.. In fact, this is the top 2 I wanted and I was alarmed when Roger Sanchez was being targeted quite early on. August 24, 20222 yr 'Dakota' was the one I voted for so happy to see it but those were by far the deserved final 2 from the original 10 and would have been happy for Roger to win too.

I think a lot of people like the Chicane song but don’t love it so weren’t going to vote it out in a hurry but weren’t necessarily going to vote for it to win. Also makes sense that more of those who’d voted Infinity out were going to vote for Shakira than Chicane.
