I've had a listen and For Free is my favourite track at the moment, Weyes Blood

It's definitely nowhere near as good as NFR but it all seems nice enough at the moment.

I enjoyed it! It was going to be a tall order to run 'NFR' close of course but it does still have that timeless kind of feel to it again sonically, I guess it's the Jack Antonoff touch once more. My favourites right now are the title track, 'White Dress', 'Tulsa Jesus Freak', 'Wild At Heart' and 'Dark But Just A Game' - so it definitely tailed off towards the end for me, at least for now. I like how Lana was pushing herself a bit in terms of vocals and production - like her voice on the chorus of 'White Dress' and dashes of autotune in 'Tulsa Jesus Freak', helped keep things interesting and fresh.

You'll have to put it on before the rest of us to get that 'exclusive' feel! This feels like such a muted release, hoping it doesn't suffer as a result!

Didn't quite end up doing this so that exclusivity was wasted on me  ended up listening to her entire discography in the lead up to it!

official video x white dress

Giving this a spin as I write and it’s alright just with the highlights actually near the end of the album for me including ‘Yosemite’, ‘Wild At Heart’, ‘Breaking Up Slowly’ & ‘Dance Til We Die’!

It’s says that track was written by Joni Mitchell on the album!

I can't stop playing this on repeat, I'm loving it even more than I was expecting  Instantly I think it's acc hit me more than my instant listens of NFR (tho that was competing with Lover & came out at the worst possible time for me to give it my full attention )

I think this is my ranking atm:

Career bests:

1. Tulsa Jesus Freak - so stunning, been obsessed since the snippet on her insta 84 years ago & it lived up to the expectations <3

2. White Dress - my first couple listens we're like it's intriguing & I know I'll love it so badly but it hasn't hit yet, now after many more listens I'm obsessed and it might become my fave <3 just terrific

3. Let Me Love You Like A Woman - so underrated!! that 2-line bridge is WHEW <3 Was hoping this would get some more love since album release, like I feel MAC always felt quite underrated until NFR dropped!

Near career bests:

4. Yosemite - yasss for us finally getting this and it's worth the wait, another one I keep going back to

5. Dance Till We Die - I love the production shift-up in the bridge so much!

Love:

6. Chemtrails Over the Country Club - this is sounding so great in the album

7. Wild at Heart - terrific song but knocked down a couple spaces ftm for being nigh on identical to How To Disappear

really good:

8. Dark But Just A Game - growing more & more with each listen, will probs move into love soon

9. Breaking Up Slowly - one of my fave's lyrically, wish it was just Lana on the vocals tho x

10. For Free - a v. nice album closer but idk if I'll go back to it too much after a while

it's fine:

11. Not All Who Wander Are Lost - still a 7/10 but yeah this is def the filler on here for me

So in love with this album

That's because it is a cover of a Joni Mitchell song xx

I assumed that

'Yosemite' and 'Dancing Till We Die' are rapidly growing on me! The former is so poetic and slow burning and the middle 8 of the latter really is such a MOMENT *.* it reminds me a little of Fiona Apple. I think my bottom 3 is the same collection of songs as yours Sam, just undecided on the exact ordering.

Not feeling this album much at all so far. It's all blending into one to me and washing right over me on my first listen through.

NFR was much more instant for me. I think this may be my least fave album of hers to date.

My ranking:

01. NFR

02. LFL

03. BTD (inc PE)

04. UV

05. Honeymoon

06. COtCC

I only rrally like Yosemite and Dancing. The rrst are ... not career highs, no matter what the stans say. Poor album.
Just letting the tracks wash over me today as it's difficult to get solid opinions with a Lana album this early. Wild at Heart and White Dress are stunning! Not quite getting the love for Tulsa Jesus Freak just yet but I reckon I will in time. Chemtrails is also proving it's worth as a single but Let Me Love You Like A Woman feels a little out of place to me, good song and understandably a single but it sounds just like that rather than blending into the album like Chemtrails.

I love Dark But Just A Game, the chords are very Oasis, reminded me of The Masterplan or Don't Look Back In Anger.

The title track is still my favourite single from her in quite a few years.

White Dress is an interesting opener, I didn't expect those vocals!

Breaking Up Slowly and For Free are my other highlights. It's another very solid album for me overall, it was going to be hard to top NFR but it's definitely not a bad attempt at a follow-up.

it was always going to be hard to top NFR and I do wish she'd gone down the 'Venice bitch' route but it's a really solid album... like the first 4 songs are golden.

'For Free' is also beautiful and I simply loved the disjointed-ness of 'dark but just a game'.

what I don't get is why they picked Let me love you like a woman as the first song/single/taste of the album, any other song would have been better...

like Tulsa Jesus Freak would have been a much better choice

or even White Dress, which imho is kinda like the Venice Bitch of this album

I thought White Dress was the new single cos it has the new video and all

but R1 just added to their playlist: Tulsa Jesus Freak!!!

so I guess thats the next single officially...
