this is my chill bop - the verses have swagger and the chorus is not wow but it's nice! Good to hear Ariana being quite vulnerable on this track again without getting too 'wet' (lack of a better word)

'fake smile' definitely one of the less memorable songs on here but it's pretty nice - the Lily Allen comparison is on point for sure.

Bad Idea had to be the next single!

 

What an absolute banger of a chorus and then the strings come in to take it to another level. :wub:

OH BUT THIS SONG.

'bad idea' was the exact opposite of 'bloodline' for me - didn't immediately jump out at me as an essential but in time it became an ultimate highlight :wub: what a BANGER. The outro is one of the most idiosyncratic moments in her discography too. Again, another single that should've been :cry:

This would have made such an interesting choice of single, but I'm kind of glad it wasn't one coz it definitely would have been butchered and the ending IS PERFECT! The strings :wub:

 

A great song. One of her very best for me! :wub:

'fake smile' is definitely one that needed a few listens for me when the album was brand new, but it soon worked its magic on me. I enjoy the mellow vibes. It's actually quite a feisty song lyrically! Tell 'em, Ari!

 

'bad idea' :wub: :wub: A huge highlight for me! Ari chan uh huh :cheeseblock: The outro is quite something too!

Easily my fave overall Ariana album track and I'd rank it ahead of most of her singles as well, what an absolute tune. Criminal that this never got to be a single.
