It was my first time listening to it and I enjoyed it! I think it has quite a UK-centric sound and wouldn't appeal to an international audience so well due to the rapped lyrics. I certainly enjoyed it more than quite a few of the other Spice Girl discoveries we've had so far.

 

If U Can't Dance is one of my personal favourite Spice album tracks!! Mel B's rap is iconic and it went down a storm live :heart:

I have to say that I didn't originally like the album version of If u can't dance I thought it was the weakest track on Spice... however seeing it live totally changed my opinion on it! It's such a fab opener to the tour and somehow it just comes alive and now I love it!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! :wub: That's the main thing really, it's always nice to see when certain songs (from all of the artists included, not just Spice Girls) have provided you guys with some worthwhile discoveries. It's a big part of what makes this a fun activity to co-host. :D

 

Honestly I really don't mind people not liking Spice Girls songs (I know I don't come across that way, oops). Hideous is surprisingly strong word, but never mind 🤭 I always have to remember that one person's trash is another person's treasure!

Sort it out, get a grip *_* Seeing this live with you though :heart: Their Stadium tour performances of it from 2019 is very in keeping with the original album track production (unlike the Istanbul performance which really transformed the song), and it was a lot of fun *.* They leaned into their nickname personas for the performance:

 

 

 

 

Just so this post isn't totally Spice Girls... I have to say, Act My Age is one of my favourite Katy 'Witness' tracks (an album that I've never thought was as bad as people make it out to be). Maybe it's because I am also a thirty-something year old, but the lyrics really resonate with me. Aside from that, I simply think that it has a nice tune, it stays in my head :music: It's definitely one of the more outright pop songs from that album. Let me go further and say that I think it's a better song than a handful of tracks from her three far more well received albums. :o

I listened to the 5 songs a couple of days ago and was stumped over whether to vote for Madonna or Katy. I Don't Search I Find is a stand out moment from Madame X! I've finally decided though...

Funnily enough, even though I love Rihanna... Love the Way You Lie Pt. II has never really done it for me, and I continue to feel that way. The obviously familiar chorus is great, and the verses are well written. However there's something about the production and her vocals which seems too bland and lightweight, to me. Eminem is on form in the original version, but not so much on Pt. II. I'm interested to know what the Rihanna forum's second choice would have been? I think Cry and Farewell are much stronger. :wub:

I can't say for sure, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's been used on The X Factor in a "successful auditionee is overcome with emotion" moments :lol:
