October 20, 20204 yr Straight remixes of songs that were already sent are counted as being a repeat of the previous entry. If I'm understanding what you're asking correctly, a new song that's basically a remake of a previous song but by a different artist would be counted as a sample/cover, it being vetoed or not would (at least partly) depend on how similar it is to the original. Aside, the song you sent is one I've sent to the PopJustice song contest and is one of my more successful entries there so I think/hope it would indeed do decently here as well! It is not x Thanks. I assumed that would be the case, but couldn't find anything specific anywhere about remixes. I did wonder if I attempted to send whether it would get through the process, that's what it's been released as but it's essentially 'Elijah' (JLX Remix) and it's not immediately obvious it's a remix of a song which I sent last year. I reckon it could fair quite a bit better than the DNQ underperformance of the original. I searched for the song on here and the only mention I saw was an appearance in your personal chart, gives me a bit more hope that it might do quite well ^_^ Edited October 20, 20204 yr by RabbitFurCoat
October 20, 20204 yr no one answered my semi rhetorical question of if I got vetoed or not so we’ll where the chips fall in the next few days
October 20, 20204 yr Y’all don’t realize that saying you think the song will be vetoed will just make the Veto Police think there’s a reason it should be vetoed  Nah it’s the same people who say that every month basically so by this point it’s background noise. Like Cody having a meltdown for a song that will defo DNQ by coming 8th in the semi. Or Ryan sending a Eurovision reject in March, April, May, June, July and August. Or John entering something that elicits a “really?” response in the staff forum. Little traditions really make the contest special 🥰 Also, I have a veto framework question. Would a song be auto-veto if was essentially a remix of a previous entry, even though classed as a separate release with a completely new title? I couldn't quite work out whether it would class as a song that has previously been sent or if considered to be 'sample' and therefore "12 \\ Song contains a major sample of a former BJSC entry". Would it count against the attempted sender if they had sent the original too? It’s really quite subjective here and depends so heavily on how the song is remixed/covered. The closer to the original it is the more likely it is to go. Same vocals or reusing large swathes of the original instrumental and structure is a sure fire no from me. I haven’t heard this one yet but I’ll give both this and the original a spin and have a think no one answered my semi rhetorical question of if I got vetoed or not so we’ll where the chips fall in the next few days It ain’t safe until the semis go up And even then I’d give it a good 36 hours
October 21, 20204 yr Changed my entry! I'm honestly not sure whether it's a veto or not (if it is I'll just reconfirm to my other song).
October 21, 20204 yr Just came across something truly sensational so Jadakissnia have confirmed  a female vocal 7 minute post-rock, shoegaze-y thing - we're sooo ready!!
October 22, 20204 yr I've got nothing really atm so I've confirmed a potential I've had stashed away for five years, maybe we'll stick with that maybe something better will come along
