November 11, 20205 yr This is no dig but it amazes me how many of the same album fans are prepared to by. Does anyone actually have a vinyl, a cassette player, a CD player, and all the money to freely splash on whatever new incentives these girls drop? I can’t imagine doing more than just downloading Confetti as I have, and maybe I’d get the vinyl if I had a player. Yeah I feel exactly the same. I've ordered 'Disco' off the website today but I couldn't justify buying the album in any additional format (and I do actually own a record player, a cassette player and a CD player!) I'm sure most of the people who buy every format available won't be able to play those formats but I guess it's more about having the collection, and I get that. Some people collect stamps, some people collect coins, some people collect multiple formats of Kylie albums  that's not a dig at anyone btw, I can think of worse things to collect!
November 11, 20205 yr I'm definitely someone that ended up spending a ridiculous amount on versions that LM have released. I've actually spent nearly £42 in postage because everything's £6.90 on the official store. Kind of regret it but I do love the formats I bought..
November 11, 20205 yr I have bought the CD, a download and the 2 Kylie singles on vinyl. I will buy deluxe next week to help sales (unless it gets close tomorrow) People can spend their money on what whey want. Some people use music for anything. Some have rooms full of things, some frame vinyls, use casettes decoration etc and to add to their collections. In this day and age if there's is a demand then why not let people have their fun and joy. It also keeps independent shops open and lots of jobs producing, selling these items and I love a good music store when they are open. Streaming took away Kylie's singles success and so physicals keep her in business and fans love seeing her and going to her concerts etc. Go Kylie and go Kylie fans. Just think how powerful a brand she has that her fans absolutely love her all these years
November 11, 20205 yr People buying more copies of one album than Zara’s next album is gonna sell in total :frankie:

November 11, 20205 yr you're assuming Zara is gonna release a new album? :o not sure if I'd count on it

Out of interest, is there any other female artists that have such big "collector" fanbases as Kylie? I've seen quite a lot of people who've bought 10+ copies on Twitter, and we have a member here even who has bought 29. But I always feel as though despite having similar(ish) fanbases , her peers don't seem to incur the same amount of loyalty. Madonna, despite a huge fanbase still, (I know they're not the same artist, and there are differences in fanbases before anyone comes for me) doesn't seem to have the same level of loyal collector fans that Kylie does. Or is it that she just doesn't take advantage of the formats to the same level? I genuinely can't think of many other longer standing female artists who's fans go as hard. I feel like someone like Gaga could take advantage of a similar loyalty to collecting lots of different formats in years to come? Edited November 11, 20205 yr by 365
November 11, 20205 yr People buying more copies of one album than Zara’s next album is gonna sell in total :frankie: Zara needs multiple cassettes in different colors.
November 11, 20205 yr Looks like Kylie is going to get the fastest selling album of the year this week!

There were several editions/formats for Madonna's last album (looking on her online store, there was a standard, deluxe, 2-CD deluxe, cassette, black vinyl, clear vinyl, rainbow picture disc) but Madonna doesn't have the general interest that Kylie does on top of that.

Oh yes, I guess that's very true. Kylie's music remains quite GP friendly and she always does a huge amount of promo, so Madonna's sales are usually just her fanbase pretty much?
November 11, 20205 yr Collecting the different formats it's ok, and that already was a big thing in the 80s and 90s... like if Tori Amos released a new single everyone would buy the UK CD1, UK CD2, the 7" vinyl, the 12" vinyl, the US CD single etc but they all had different covers, different b-sides so made sense... What I find too much is all these vinyl variants. So it's the same album, just changes the colour of the vinyl inside. And they make all these fancy colours like aubergine and splattered yellow and even with tiny indie artists, many fans go and buy all the versions, each version is limited and many fans end up with all of them. For me, that's really excessive, and 1 is enough for me, but many of my friends get them all.

Kylie's music remains quite GP friendly and she always does a huge amount of promo, so Madonna's sales are usually just her fanbase pretty much? I'd say so yes. Madonna's UK promo seemed to only extend as much as interviews, the biggest of which was Graham Norton which got a very negative reaction. It was pretty good going that she managed 27k first week sales, thinking back.
November 11, 20205 yr Looks like Kylie has the no1 in the bag now if those updated sales figures are correct which I’m pleased about. Totally deserves it with an amazing new album.
November 11, 20205 yr I only buy formats I can play (well, I've started the Britney picture discs even though I don't have a vinyl player - but I plan on framing them etc..) and I usually buy one of each format on CD for the artists I STAN (so Brit, Justin T, Kelly C, Little Mix, Tinashe & Busted) however, even I've drawn the line at just a signed version for LM coz I can't justify the price they want for that limited edition with no extra tracks!? I don't have many cassettes, but I do still have a cassette player and if they were cheap enough/available to buy for my faves in a chart battle (Little Mix :arrr: - was holding off in the hopes they'd discount the cassettes or be close enough for me to buy one for the battle - they're not available rn! Grr) I'd buy one!
November 11, 20205 yr Sweet Melody is absolutely smashing! Confident it’ll stay at 3 this week too
November 11, 20205 yr Wow Kylie is really doing everything! Would be quite something if she manages more than Chromatica's 52k. As someone said, it's so nice to see pure pop winning! :cheeseblock: And I'd say yes either Kylie or Madonna with these crazy fandoms who buy everything! and as Taylor's dedicated fanbase grows up there's gonna be more and more of us who are ready to buy loads of it - I had a few friends who bough all 16 versions of folklore in July.
November 11, 20205 yr I've ended up getting 4 copies of this album just to get signed stuff. (I only bought one of Golden, the deluxe book CD). I might frame the signed vinyl actually.
November 11, 20205 yr Hope those figures are true. But its still too early to be sure with today and tomorrow to go and who knows what sales have not been added but I really hope Kylie bags the Number 1. I don't dislike Little Mix at all (some great singles though I've not bought an album yet) but was annoyed that they announced the album on the same day as Kylie's had been announced (although Confetti might have been in the planner long before due to the TV show final being scheduled that week). As Kylie says - there is always competition and anyone could drop something at anytime but when you see some low sales weeks that your artist/band could have released and got a number 1 it is frustrating. Anyway - if Kylie makes it I'd be happy for LM to hit number 1 with Sweet Melody (although I've not even heard it yet as I'm avoiding streaming "other")
