The craziest thing is that from March it looks like even if someone tests positive for covid they will not isolate. Like Rooney said it seems like the government want people to catch this illness.

Plan B restrictions don't really do much though anyway? Mask guidance fair enough but work from home is still down to company discretion and the covid passes were a useless idea. You either have to go strong or not at all imo.

Of course the timing was definitely political but I think it's the right move personally.

Masks and working from home should just be the norm now, but the Tories want to appease the anti-vaxxers and want to save Pret a Prete.

Working from home shouldn't be the norm. There's internal work studies that is bad for work morale and bad for business productivity too (100% WFH that is). I have always been a huge advocate of flexible working and there should be a move to this model to give people more flexibility and allow a balance between working in the office and working from home. I'm also really open to 4 day working weeks too, although less clear how this would work as currently people can work 4 days a week, but they cram 37-40 hours in to those days, so working the same but over 4 days.

Smells like a narcissist’s last ditch attempt to curry favour, if you ask me.

I don’t get the ‘glee’ of people not having to wear a mask. It’s borderline frightening. I’m so fed up of people saying ‘you can still choose to wear a mask’ like it helps when many people choose not to. I was always under the impression that mask wearing was to protect others, not yourself.

Like last Summer, it feels too soon to stop the mask mandate but hopefully the majority will exercise their common sense and keep wearing them on public transport and in confined spaces. We obviously know the political reasons for doing it, but I just hope the science does actually back it (probably not since it's not really been made public from what I can see).

I'm expecting very few masks to be seen at all now, happened the last time there was no mask mandate. I'm glad I don't have to use public transport as often. Honestly, the cotton ones that I have are pretty nice in the cold weather so I doubt I'll stop for now!

I think it is slightly too soon - still over 90,000+ cases doesn't feel the right time to loosen all restrictions, March would've been more suitable - but it was never gonna be anything else with this government and the timing. Can only wait and see what happens, the most recent deaths are worryingly high, but I'm hoping that was because of backlog as cases seem to have peaked.

Seems like Boris has brainwashed the English people into thinking 200 deaths a day is worth it so a bunch of selfish idiots don’t have to wear a piece of cloth on their face!
The latest announcement on restrictions is yet another example of their shambolic handling of the pandemic. Removing pretty much all the measures when cases are still relatively high is dangerous, crazy and just shows their sheer incompetence.

This bothers me greatly. Like. I know we have to take that Step at some point. But March feels too early

Working at home SHOULD be the norm.

Working at home SHOULD be the norm.

Why should it? I agree with flexible working, but there are some stuff you just have to be together to get done. Notice how a lot of the companies who said "work from home forever" are backtracking on it. Not everyone wants it be the norm. There is 100% a place for it in modern day working, but not everyone has the right environment to work from home. Flexibiloty should ne the norm in every job though.

I can just about do my job from home, but I way prefer being in the office and am so much more productive. Working from home so much has had a MASSIVE impact on my mental health and almost driven me to the brink, and I'm going to struggle to get back into any sort of other routine now because of it. I certainly do not want it to be the norm by any means.

It is better. Less time commuting, at home in comfort... It should ABSOLUTELY be the notm for thosr who want it.

No hard and fast rules. Depends on the industry and what type of role for a start. Not going into the office allows far more flexibility for computer programmers certainly,
I prefer working at home due to saving money on the commute and reducing time on buses but my house is too small to get enough privacy to do work there in peace especially with a baby on the way I will be queuing up for work to open at 7am when the little one appears 😅

I’ve only ever worked from home in my current job which I’ve been doing for the past 18 months and still haven’t even met some of my work colleagues. Working from home has positives but there are draw backs. I live on my own and I struggle with working from home due to lack of social contact with my colleagues. It’s not the same speaking over the phone and you can feel quite isolated. However, it is a better work life balance as I don’t have to commute and saves money on petrol and a wear n tear on my car but I’m spending more on heating and electricity costs in my home..

I think working from home will become more the norm for many organisations in the future as a way of reducing company overheads and more meetings will be conducted virtually to save time and travelling costs to meeting venues.

People can STILL wear masks if they choose to though and no doubt many will but just won't be forced which is right in our Democracy.

Why is it "right for democracy" to allow someone to put me at risk just because they find wearing a mask a bit of a chore? Masks are largely to protect other people, not the wearer. Why has that message still not got through to some people?

Some people just hate being told what to do. They don't see the point of any laws really, thought without them there'd be mass anarchy. Masks are uncomfortable and for some people hard to breathe through.
