Some people just hate being told what to do. They don't see the point of any laws really, thought without them there'd be mass anarchy. Masks are uncomfortable and for some people hard to breathe through.

People have died Chris.

Well done on completely missing the point.

People can STILL wear masks if they choose to though and no doubt many will but just won't be forced which is right in our Democracy.

Masks protect the OTHER PEOPLE, not you, you dunce!!!

In normal times such as pre-pandemic, yes people should have a choice about their rights but during a pandemic, there needs to be a balance between protecting people and human rights. It’s not much to ask people to wear a mask. They have been shown to protect people from getting the virus and if we all do our bit, we can help to limit transmission.

I can just about do my job from home, but I way prefer being in the office and am so much more productive. Working from home so much has had a MASSIVE impact on my mental health and almost driven me to the brink, and I'm going to struggle to get back into any sort of other routine now because of it. I certainly do not want it to be the norm by any means.

I feel you Aly. I’m in exactly the same position as you are in. Luckily my boss has been super supportive of having me in the office even tho company policy says we should all be at home unless there’s an urgent business need she’s been firm about having people who want to be in the office come in for their health. I’m lucky.

Im still struggling with routine and motivation but I don’t think there’s enough appreciation for the isolation some of these policies have caused even though there is a public good in there. I mean with ventilation and masking theres no reason offices cannot be used by people who want to use them

I hate that the Tiergarten Tunnel is a 50kmh Zone and the A111 being a 60kmh Zone the whole way through the city is needlessly slow but you still comply because the restrictions are in place for public safety and societal good. Tho I struggle to see the point you’re making. It’s nonsensical and unrelated (as usual) to Simons response.

And they’re not hard to breathe through at all. Especially as the ones most folks wear in the UK are either surgical masks (poorly fitting) or cloth masks (fabrics are breathable). FFP2 masks are very breathable in - even over long periods. Lest we forget that medical professionals are often masked up for 12-16 hours at a time across the globe and none of them have any issues. So I’m sure you’ll be fine for 20 mins inside the big Asda. Selfish f***.

Don’t know why I bother. It’s not as if you ever actually respond in a meaningful way at all. Like Boris you just answer a fictitious question you would have preferred to be asked instead.

He just sealions, just like his hero, Blojo the Fash.

It’s interesting that a number of health professionals have raised concerns about the governments future covid strategy - in particular plans to drop the legal requirement to self-isolate if you test positive. Barchester which is a care home company have stated they will not be adhering to this approach and will require a risk assessment on all staff. Omicron is still highly infectious, unpredictable and dangerous virus and I don’t have any trust in the governments approach. It is not based on the science and no where else is following this policy.

As someone who has to wear a face mask for 6 hours straight at least during the working day, I can’t with this ‘masks are hard to breathe in’ rubbish from people who are required to wear one for about 15 minutes max a day.
It's summer here and temperatures are regularly 30-40 degrees celcius. Wearing a mask is unbearable for me personally in the heat especially on public transport with no aircon and limited windows for a breeze, but I do still wear it anyway for the sake of others and take it off after I get off and have my own space again.

I would gladly take that mask off the moment it was allowed here

I wear it 10+ hours a day, I'm tired of it :cheeseblock:

And this is not me saying the mandate should end already, before y'all jump down my throat, just that I am very much looking forward to it

Would you say the same about seat belts?

Hope you avoid any major illness Jade.

I'm currently paranoid about a positive test that could lead to me missing Mum's funeral. The fact that so few people are wearing masks adds to that :(

Sorry to hear that Jade hope you feel OK, and stay away from folk for a while Simon, it's rife down here, I'm currently only having Carers in the house as most people seem to have caught it via kids and mum has yet to have her booster.

Hope all those who are positive are ok as can be

The news of self isolation ending is a major step too far! If i wasnt home working at that point and I caught Covid theres no way id go into work in a office using public transport  just what are they thinking its asking for trouble and cases will no doubt skyrocket by that stage. I don't know what health conditions others have and potentially passing it to others isnt something I want to potentially do.

I really am nervous of that, even the prospect of working in the office partially is scary to me because of the commute and as I dont yet drive public transport during peak times where almost nobody will be wearing a mask isnt a pleasing thought either ive started to really enjoy home work especially as it shows we can all work just as well if not better in our own environments (although i do get why it can be negative to some who dont wish to do that).

Hope Jade and Jord are OK! Public transport must be awful at peak times with few wearing masks but open the window if you can to aid ventilation!

Before I actually have to go back in, I might do some sort of trial run of it again just to get used to it again. I use the Metro which is kind of like the London Underground but around the North East area so its often very busy!
