Sky have got their best ratings ever I think. They are just hiding her for 6 months and by then probably hoping Covid is over. She should have known better really as like you say, it loses all credibility for Sky News now.

So either it will indeed pretty much be over in 6 months. Or Burley won't be appearing on TV again. Sounds like a win win there.

She will definitely be back unless she walks, which I can't see. If Sky were going to sack her they would have already done it.

Does seem inevitable but I really don't see how this will change anything. A vast majority of people are gonna be leaving London for Christmas travelling all around the country anyway plus everyone knows we're gonna be in another full national lockdown in January so this move is pointless. It's only gonna penalise the hospitality sector once again where risk of transmission is tiny anyway.

The passing off of nonsense like ‘the chance of transmission in hospitality sectors is tiny’ is annoying me now it’s just propaganda from their own interest groups. Any setting where more people meet equals more chance of spread hospitality included.

My parents are hoping because we're in Scotland for Christmas this year at my sister's (right on the border - Coldstream), that we can go to the pub. No matter how many times I tell them that won't be happening she still insists.

Of you’re on the border you are in luck. Both border counties are now Tier 1 so pubs are open. Of course if you should go or not is a different question but they are open

Is that definitely right? I read this on the Scottish Gov website yesterday.

And to be honest I've always expected the entire four countries, regardless of what tier anyone is in, to not let bubbles mix in pubs and restaurants in this 5 day "let off".

What a disgrace. The one time of year we need a bit of familiarity, joy and escapism and here we've got Santa on his deathbed. Leave Christmas out of it.

I’ll be honest I’m not sure how the rules for Xmas interact with the Tiers but two households can meet in the pub in Tier one areas under the standard guidelines for Scotland: https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavir...ection-level-1/

This a chart release?

I don't really see the problem with the advert?

There are all the have a good Christmas and kill Granny in January memes going around. Let's be honest, it's going to happen up and down the country. Christmas is a time to celebrate but people are braindead to the situation which is likely to happen in the 2nd-3rd week in January.

I don't think they're braindead, I think everyone knows whatever the numbers are there's gonna be another lockdown next month so will make the most of the relative freedom over Christmas. I do feel for the vulnerable and elderly here because they're the ones who have to be super cautious.

Christmas is even more special this year, as I say people are seeking for a bit of normality and escapism. What we don't need is the government shitting on it and scaremongering and saying "look kids, Santa's dying!". It's depressing and inappropriate.

OMG it's just a bit of fun. Some of the cracker jokes this year will no doubt get people up in arms but they're humorous.

Sorry but there's just no comparison.

I'm aware people probably think "it's just an advert" but it all adds up, it's just yet another thing that keeps us all in fear and doom and gloom.

Well it doesn't me so don't speak for us all.

I don't intend to. These are my thoughts, some will feel the same, some won't.

But there should be hard hitting adverts because clearly a lot of people aren't abiding by the restrictions and don't realise how easily it spreads and what the consequences of their actions are. They may not work in persuading them but it is worth a try.

I really fear over Christmas the Covid consequences of not just households mixing but also the crowds and queues outside in city centers most not wearing masks (because they think because they are outdoors then they are safe) and also the shops being busier now in general.

:o I thought you were safe in a queue to enter a supermarket or shop so pull my mask down when I get off the bus and pull it up when I go in. Many people do that.

Omg you are actually wearing a mask now :o

Well it is safer than indoors but still better I think to wear one if you are in a queue or if the shopping streets are crowded.

But the advert isn't aimed at kids and Santa doesn't die. The point of the advert is showing awareness for NHS staff.

There needs to be some doom and gloom as if everyone takes the attitude of 'f*** it it's Christmas' then we will all be locked down in January again and we will be right where we started, yet again. People will shift their behaviour. Sure, people can and should enjoy Christmas but just thinking that covid has gone away is naive and I'd rather have another 3 months of misery than stringing this out for 6 months.

Omg you are actually wearing a mask now :o

Yes, got a bit scared with the reported rise in London cases.
