Yeah exactly, one benefit I hoped for from this was to get a few more opinions in this forum because the discussion earlier in the week clearly showed that there are some people who frequent the chart forum who have opinions outside the norm of views normally discussed in here.

Those of you who are respectable are very welcome.

All I was doing was reply to the topic with my opinion and then you responded questioning why I bothered???

I thought this was the News and Politics forum not the youcanonlypostifyouhateborisandwanthimtosufferhowdareyouhaveadifferingopiniontome forum

:D

You were saying all of this is pointless!

where's the facepalm emoji...

It's just a bit of fun really, the actual song melodically etc is awful and it could have been more clever maybe tbh. But if it highlights Boris doing a awful job and more people behind it, then I'm all for it!

Realistically I'm sure Boris won't give a shit.

This.

Still not over how he's treated us in the North either.

If anyone is wondering where the Dominic Cummings protest song is..

..it's by Sleaford Mods and it is called “Shortcummings”

I haven't listened to it and have little interest in doing so but I support this campaign as it's just another small way for people to show their dissatisfaction with this government/Boris and everything that has happened this past year. I know that iTunes sales are pitiful these days and it won't make any actual difference to anything, but why not use it as a way to express our feelings when he should be held to account?

Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead is a different matter, this one (I'm assuming, since Boris is not dead, but as I say, haven't listened so don't know the entire lyrics) isn't celebrating or mocking death at least

Of all the things happening right now to get upset about...

I suppose it's easier than actually holding him to account for this tragic year.

I don't see what the issue is, we live in a democracy and people have the right to political protest. The song is accurately conveying the mood of a considerable chunk of the nation during a very difficult time.

I'm not sure why it's being compared to the Ding Dong / Thatcher situation - Boris is very much alive and wreaking havoc on people's lives right now.

I don't recall there being this type of backlash to "Liar Liar" charting when Theresa May was PM or do these pathetic Tory sympathisers only start with their faux outrage when people are protesting against a white man 🧐

Yeah, but no, but yeah, but Theresa May didn’t have a pandemic to deal with or a new baby!!!!1!1!1!

Ugh that looks awful written down,

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Say it again for the people at the back

(And as someone who grew up in Scotland, I had NO problems at all with Ding Dong the Witch is dead. If she wasn’t such an evil c**t maybe people wouldn’t have celebrated her eventual return to hell. Long May she rot in pain)

Are people in favour of giving money to someone who thinks songs about child abuse are funny?

Besides, look at the state of "Kunt".

"Boris Johnson is a f**king c**t" (repeat for a minute)

that's it, that's the entire lyrics.

I wish we got something from Captain Ska again instead, 'Liar Liar' was actually a well thought out song and not a joke. But I won't complain at this song charting anyhow.

I think it’s quite clear that people are in favour of saying that Boris Johnson is a f***ing c**t.

It's quite fitting that a protest song against Boris Johnson consists solely of a soundbite with no detail or substance. That's basically his whole career.

Clearly, but many don't know the history of the performer. If they do, they deserve all they get.

Forget the performer for one minute, what do you think about the song itself?

Unfortunately we do because you keep repeating it multiple times to the point of tedium, it doesn't have any relevance to the topic under discussion here IMO.

You're pretty hung up on this aren't you? That's the sole contribution I've seen you make to the conversation, that the singer once made a rather unfunny song that crossed the line because it was joking about Savile and therefore he shouldn't be supported.

Someone whose artistic name is 'Kunt' has some skeletons in their past for being an edgy w*n**r. What a shocker, never saw that one coming.

If the song is as described, then it's pretty much an empty vessel for people's feelings. No one is buying it thinking that it's good music to listen to, no one is buying it with the intention of giving money to the performer. Very few probably are even aware the performer has done other songs before. He could be literally anyone.

They're buying it to send Johnson a message. Not a very sophisticated message, but it wouldn't have been as successful a campaign otherwise - you can say the title and people know where you're going with it.

Haha! :basil:
