Posted December 23, 20204 yr [2020celebrations.gif not found] Your favourite end of year BJSC Celebration is here! Lets finally vaccinate ourselves against this nightmare year with a spot of friendily to-the-death competition! For this first round we've got 82 of the best placed entries who didn't quite make it out of the semis divided into two qualifiers (i.e. what used to be called "The Rejects" in years past). The top 15 placed entries in each bracket will advance to the Heats in the first week of January where they will have to see if they can tough it out with a tougher set of opponents - but more on that when we get to it! These entries were decided based on statistical evidence so if you don't like what the numbers picked out then one pair of tough tits to you! December 23, 20204 yr Omg hiipe! :jump: For anyone who may be interested, the criteria for songs appearing in TBO has been tweaked very slightly this year - it's mostly the same as last year but this year everyone is guaranteed to have at least 2 songs appearing at some point during the course of the contest (unless of course they only entered once in which case they will be represented by their one song). This first round is composed of: - all songs which were 1 place off qualifying in their original contest - the highest placing DNQ by each nation who participated in 2020, which in some cases of course overlaps with the first criterion - the second highest placing DNQ by each nation who did not have any qualifiers during the year (only applies to 5 countries - Beaverdonia, Buzzjack Mountain, Chestoria, Deandria, Frandoot) - one wildcard entry to make it an even number - this is the highest scoring and placing DNQ which did not get covered by the previous 3 criteria, which happens to be 'IJskoud' This is slightly changed from last year where the top 2 DNQs from each semi-final appeared here. There are 9 songs that would have qualified here under last year's rules but no longer do after these tweaks, sorry to those sacrificed. x The songs that will qualify to round 2 are: - the highest placing qualifier by each nation who participated in 2020 and did not have any top 5 hits - the second highest placing qualifier by each nation who would otherwise only have 1 eligible song (also only applies to 5 countries - Kathaldazia, Lookylion, Numayania, Pupok, Unovia); that is those who had no DNQs but also no top 5s (or only one top 5 in Lookylion's case) - the top 15 from each half of the first round Then the format will be unchanged for the third and fourth rounds (all songs which finished between 2nd and 5th auto-qualify to round 3, and all 10 winners auto-qualify to round 4, with the rest made up of the qualifiers from the previous round). Another thing that will hopefully be different from last year: finishing before August. x Alternative explanation if that is too complicated to follow: bro just trust me
December 23, 20204 yr Hope Elliot can try and get some retribution as I was hoping it would be a safer hit originally. I think Amy might have more of a chance though which I wouldn't be against but I prefer 'Pink' of the two.
December 23, 20204 yr Yeah I’m not really expecting Talk Deep to get trough so this is all just gonna be me reliving my past mistakes
December 23, 20204 yr Just realised I was in this because I entered a few at the start of the year! I'll try and give these a listen and vote, hopefully I'll be able to catch up with some of the biggest BJSC successes since I took a pause from being a regular, and looking forward to making some good discoveries along the way. Just discovered that Millie B was entered for BJSC, would never have seen that coming!
December 23, 20204 yr Author For what it's worth I am of the view that Yallah is definitely one of the better entries I've sent to BJSC this year so I hope it finally gets the recognition it deserves!
December 23, 20204 yr ^ just to note that, by definition, the actual biggest hits of the year won't be appearing until the later rounds! This first round is just to decide which 30 of the also-rans will get to play with the more popular songs of the year. Will any of them make it to the final round this year like Cavetown did last year? Stay tuned to find out :jump: Not expecting to get anywhere with Ecco2k but I hope at least one of my two top 3 hits of the year should be able to make it to the final.
December 23, 20204 yr SCANDAL as anti-Séyetana forces in Persephonia mean that two entries that came close missed out due to rule changes (rip Moonglow and Pretty *the thing that Boris Johnson is with a v*). Such persecution. Justice for Ame Wo Matsu, it's a great pop song from a frankly wonderful talent that you might have overlooked ^_^ Very glad I get a chance to vote for Dynazty/can support Gloryhammer again too *.*
December 23, 20204 yr I mean as epic a cover as Phantom... is and how wrong you all still were, I'm kinda sad poor Pale Blue won't get a chance :'( But ah well, let's get this one one further this time! (this did lead me to Google Translate Fails which is one of my favourite internet distractions now)
December 23, 20204 yr Excited to see the return of the new format! We hope the rule tweaks will improve the experience for everyone!! Consensus seemed to be that the new format was a good refresh, so if you do have any thoughts on how we can improve it again next year then please let us know!apply to join the BJSC mod team!!
December 23, 20204 yr Give Monster a chance, especially if you missed it in the other semi when it crashed out, it's a real beauty <3
December 23, 20204 yr You have no songs in this round because you didn't have any DNQs this year
December 23, 20204 yr Justice for Tchami & HANA please! It's not often I get a DNQ let's try and make this one count !!1 Still love this format.
December 23, 20204 yr I'm not expecting much reversal in the fortunes of Death Grips in this contest! Coming top 15 would be a Christmas miracle
