April 24, 20214 yr I couldn’t even be bothered watching the finale and I’m glad I didn’t. Kandy being runner up when there are so many more talented queens out there is just a joke! Happy for Symone though, don’t think she was my pick in the end but very deserving and worthy!
April 24, 20214 yr I was honestly just glad Olivia didn't win lol. I would've preferred Utica though. But I saw an ex of La La RiRi on a soap forum so maybe he gathered some fanbases from there? It’s voted for by the queens- surely they know who the most congenial of the cast is considering they were around each other the entire time- particularly in covid I think a positive queen would really shine through!
April 24, 20214 yr Was genuinely worried we were about to get a Kandy win then... Gutted at Gottmik not winning but Symone was a very close second for me and she thoroughly deserves the win. Her finale looks were everything. Symone/Gottmik would’ve been the perfect top 2 though, hate that the top 2 is decided by a wheel 🤡

April 24, 20214 yr In some ways Kandy winning would've been fitting for this series, considering how much of a mess it was. But its good that we got a decent winner. Saying that would've preferred either Rose or Gottmik, but Symone has been a powerhouse most episodes!
April 24, 20214 yr Yeah that's the thing with lipsync for the crown, it comes down to luck almost. Symone would have won against anyone but Gottmik could have beat Kandy and been 2nd, which I know doesn't really make a difference compared to being 3rd/4th, but to have a run like Kandy's and beat someone who pretty much was good at everything like Rosé as well as someone who was as versatile as Gottmik who'd grown so much, I just think was a bit of a shambles. It says it all that a lot of us had such little faith in the thought they wouldn't crown Kandy :lol: Like I said, they couldn't have after how she performed in the last lipsync, but between her winning the first one and doing the second one, there was niggle within me. I knew that Kandy wasn't a good enough lipsyncer to beat Symone, after she didn't win I felt stupid for even thinking she could! Also agreed on LaLa, it was random but I do think Miss Congeniality voted for by the queens makes more sense. They know who actually was congenial, we of course don't see everything and when we vote, you end up with Valentina. I think maybe we should have a fan favourite vote too, I wonder who would have won that, Rosé seemed to win a lot of fan polls closely followed by Symone but then there's Denali too who I think would probably take it. It'd be nice to have that recognition for a queen, even if it was still a finalist or a winner.
April 24, 20214 yr Oh and Gottmik and Symone's entrance looks for this finale were I T, I think both of them are among my fave fashion queens ever on the show for different reasons. Gottmik just has such an eye for fashion but always makes it interesting with twists you wouldn't think of seeing on the show, putting her own stamp on it, and Symone's unapologetically black sense of fashion really uses her voice and pretty much every runway, she's serving things you would only get from Symone.

April 24, 20214 yr Author Well hot damn they were all crap apart from Symone, weren't they! I mean. Mik had improved her lipsync but it was still like C+ territory. Kandy about the same. That first lipsync between Rose and Kandy was really not far above Silky and Nina's S11 lipsync. Symone genuinely felt like the only one who in any way prepared for a finale and aimed to do her all to win. The others it was like they just rocked up to give it a go.

April 24, 20214 yr Kandy being runner-up is so wild hahaha! I was vastly more entertained by her than I was Rose this entire season though so it made sense to me her eliminating Bore-sé. It’s just SUCH a shame Mik couldn’t make it to the top 2 spot

Absolutely- each to their own- I guess I’ve just always loved the show for my love of reality TV so I love characters that make great TV- Gia springs to mind the most- but I think Rose was talented absolutely- I found most of her runways varying shades of awful- aside from pockets and beast- but she is clearly super talented at what she does- just a little Kameron Michaels in the personality department for me
April 24, 20214 yr I liked the balls for the finale. Symone and Gotmik turned it out and Rose looked good too. What on earth were those Kandy Muse looks though, especially the peacock dress thing? :lol: Lackluster lip syncs. Symone vs Gotmik was the best of the night. It's a shame they couldn't have been the top 2 fighting for the crown. Glad Symone won over Kandy - I was thinking Kandy would win for a second. I'm not sure how I feel about the LSFYL finales now. The first one on season 9 was SO good. Season 10 was quite messy. Season 11 was a bit better but still not that good. This season the lip syncs were very underwhelming. I'm glad to see this season is now over. I'm looking forward to All Stars 6 now!

I would say the same for Alyssa and Tatianna too probably. Kandy as a personality just wasn't for me, the drama she brought was negative, she was very self indulgent and an absolute narcassist. But maybe you're right it would've made for a dull series idk.

I'm glad she didn't win though, there shouldn't have been any doubt against Symone, who I am so delighted with as a winner :wub: Gottmik vs Symone really did feel like the final 2 though :( Love that Lala got Miss C :heart: she's been a gem every time she's been on screen :lol:

Symone second lip sync was fun and tbh gottmik did keep up with her but symone just has it when lip syncing. Kandy does have talent and did have some good moments on the show that I feel that people forget because of her track record. The chi chi tribute <\3
April 24, 20214 yr I think people are forgetting that Kandy still placed in the top FIVE times throughout the season (only once less than Symone) and only had to lip-sync once more than Symone too; her track record is not “shambolic”. Heck Juju made it to the top three of season two having also lip-synced three times but without even a single win under her belt. At the end of the day it’s a reality-TV competition, you don’t need to be the best drag queen in the world to win, nor do you need to be super talented at everything. It’s not real, it’s a mass-produced television show of which’s sole intention is to entertain audiences, not gain credibility for crowning the person who, on paper, seems to be the best at drag. I wanted Gottmik to win, Symone was my second choice and Rosé was my third. Having said this, Kandy completely earned her way to that top two spot by charming the judges, excelling at challenges with her infectious personality (which being as boisterous as it is, isn’t for everyone) and never losing a lipsync. To the people saying “Gottmik or Rosé deserved that second place”, what difference would that make exactly? They’d have to do an extra lipsync just to also lose to Symone?? What’s the point in that??? I’m thrilled for Symone and am so happy that such a beautiful soul will be the show’s representation over the next year. Any of the other three could easily come back for All Stars (although I’m doubtful that Gottmik will tbh). Also: They all SLAYED the ball. The Black and White category was absolutely obliterated, particularly by Symone. And Gottmik’s Eleganza look was one of the best outfits ever to grace RuPaul’s Drag Race.
April 24, 20214 yr I find the above comments really condescending and patronising to be honest. Yes it's a mass produced show, we are all well aware of that but to see someone like Kandy soar through the competition with little to no real critiques is frustrating. Some of us are invested in a show and feel passionately about, so we would care. It's fine to be annoyed and the gatekeeping of being disheartened at your least favourite getting so far is so annoying and puts me off Drag Race massively.
