It definitely owes a lot to George Michael. Very good though! It's going to sound amazing in the sun.

It’s about that infectious, flirtatious summer energy that takes hold of us all, come June (or December, if you’re a Southern Hemisphere baby like me but I know that’s literally IMPOSSIBLE for you all to wrap your little heads around so don’t worry about it!!).

She didn’t have to go and be so relatable as someone who also struggles in the cold, dark months and thrives in summer. This is BLISSFUL - she just never misses does she. I can’t wait to listen to this on a beach eventually.
I can't stop singing 'Blink three times when you feel it kicking in' B-)

I really like this and think it works. The lyrics have the right amount of playfulness in them and the switch up comes at just the right moment when you're beginning to think that you need something different from it.

It definitely has a late 90s feel to it, I can totally see the Lighthouse Family comparison and I think it's also a tiny bit Robbie Williams too.

I get more late 80s / early 90s vibe, George Michael totally but also a bit of Primal Scream - Screamadelica :D

^^

I can see that too - the George/Primal Scream comparisons are definitely valid ones. I think it's lyrically that I get more Robbie vibes

WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT THE LYRICA?! She confuses green for blue: I see green, no, a cool marine, and she keeps talking about the beach and sea!! There are also loads of chanting bits too, just as in thr TaraElla duet version!

This sounds just like Freedom '90. It's certainly no Green Light, is it? It's ok, but not the best, ans probably her worst lead single yet by a large distance.

I guess Robbie used the "can I kick it? yes you can" reference as well in 'Rock DJ'!

Oh! Yes that must be what it was!

I agree it's pretty much George Michael's Faith and Freedom mixed with Screamadelica era Primal Scream, not quite what I was expecting, but it's pretty nice, good to see her moving on in sound. Green Light took a while to properly click with me, so hopefully, this'll be the same and I'll be liking this more...well before the summer ends lol x
The video is also all kinds of amazing! <3
So funny reading this thread and then listening to her Apple Music interview about realising she had written something similar to 'Rock DJ' and 'Loaded' — she spoke to Bobby Gillespie to get his blessing for it.

I'm also hearing touches of All Saints in the mix too...

(I'll keep popping back with other 90s acts every now and again)

My faveourite song of the year by a long way at the moment, stunning
Sometimes simple is better imo and yeah I can see the Lighthouse Family/Robbie comparisons as well. This is sounding so lush and the video is perfect for it too!
