July 13, 20215 yr Atomic kitten top 5 is great to see albeit shortlived, they are pretty much guaranteed top 15 now.
July 13, 20215 yr It's really a wonder that fans of moderately popular indie bands ever pre-order their albums any more since they seem to literally all end up being reduced in price after a couple of days. (not that this isn't also the case for other genres but it seems especially prevalent in indie)
July 13, 20215 yr The million dollar question is where does everyone think Three Lions, Sweet Caroline and Southgate You’re the One would have charted had England won on Sunday?

(not that this isn't also the case for other genres but it seems especially prevalent in indie) I think it’s the case for most artists regardless of genre now - Tom Grennan, Dua Lipa, 5SOS, The Snuts, Declan McKenna, Olivia Rodrigo, Demi Lovato, Easy Life, Rolling Stones etc have all dropped to half price in opening week across some format. And even those not price cutting are encouraging multi buying from the fanbase with new bundles or intimate record store show with purchase, personalised copies etc during release week to boost sales. The million dollar question is where does everyone think Three Lions, Sweet Caroline and Southgate You’re the One would have charted had England won on Sunday? 1,2 & 3

(not that this isn't also the case for other genres but it seems especially prevalent in indie) I never do now, but always keep on the lookout for the chart reductions :P My last one was The 1975's Notes to get early access to tour tickets, but IIRC they only reduced their digital versions vs. KSI.
July 13, 20215 yr The million dollar question is where does everyone think Three Lions, Sweet Caroline and Southgate You’re the One would have charted had England won on Sunday? 1, (2 Ed, 3 Olivia) 4 (AK) and 5 (Neil). Would have been quite a spectacle!
July 13, 20215 yr 1, (2 Ed, 3 Olivia) 4 (AK) and 5 (Neil). Would have been quite a spectacle! This! Or at a push Atomic Kitten ahead of Olivia at #3. I think on the momentum streams would have continued to hold up pretty massive amounts over yesterday and today at least. Plus the potential for a cheap cash in victory version of 3 Lions to be rushed out and take big numbers on downloads. We will never known for certain though.
July 13, 20215 yr I think Ed would still have ultimately held #1 even if England had won but 'Three Lions' could have been comfortably #2. All hypothetical indeed though.
July 13, 20215 yr How on earth have Atomic Kitten added 5-6k sales and 'Three Lions' 13k on the Monday after England were defeated?! Surely most people will have stopped streaming them after Sunday? (And that's with all that missing streaming data for Monday too... weird!) Edited July 13, 20215 yr by Mangø

July 14, 20215 yr Inhaler are going for it today - they’ve just reduced the price of their standard vinyl to £6.99 on their website
July 14, 20215 yr I hope Inhaler hold on and i like to see that they are putting in the effort to hold the Number1.
July 14, 20215 yr Thats a crazy drop in price, weren't they selling it for like 20 pounds the day before? I think if I were a loyal fan that bought the vinyl at 20 pounds, I'd be pissed off... I've read many times about mid-week sales on downloads or CDs but not on albums and not like a 75% sale
July 14, 20215 yr The Official Charts Company Midweek Sales Flash is in, and Dave’s new track is homing in on a Top 5 finish. The lead single from the rapper’s upcoming second album We’re All Alone In This Together, Clash features Stormzy and is on 28,651 sales for the week so far, with all but 761 download units coming from streaming alone. Clash has 3,927,433 streams for the week so far across audio and video, with Tuesday’s streaming data yet to be counted. At No.1, Ed Sheeran’s Bad Habits has 62,975 sales, with 3 Lions (39,263 sales) still at No.2 despite England’s loss to Italy in the final of Euro 2020. Olivia Rodrigo’s Good 4 U (36,390 sales) and The Kid Laroi & Justin Bieber’s Stay (23,296 sales) complete the Top 5, nestling either side of Dave. In the albums chart, Irish newcomers Inhaler are going strong in No.1 spot, with 15,069 sales for their debut album It Won’t Always Be Like This. Of that total, 14,134 sales are physical, with 540 from downloads and 395 from streams. Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour (9,113 sales) and Muse’s reissued Origin Of Symmetry (4,826 sales) are also in the Top 3, ahead of Tom Odell’s new album Monsters (4,820 sales) and Queen’s Greatest Hits (4,056 sales). July 14, 20215 yr Well there's the sales bump Inhaler needed to be safe at #1! Feeling like they might be the next act to have a big drop from #1 though after a spell of a few #1s in a row that at least got a second week in the top 5. Looks like it could be very close between 'Three Lions' and 'Clash' for #3.
