I sent Amongst Wolves - Rabbit Hole just a couple of months ago :magic: (I think Lauren Daigle was sent not too long ago as well!)

Well, that’s proper disappointing. I had great confidence in the chances of Let Me Go, don’t understand what happened tbh.

Pleased at least some people liked it.

great to see Ashley Wallbridge making it through tonight, I wasn't too sure it would as trance entries are always a bit hit and miss in the contest.

I only lost:

+02 - Tartford - Milk Inc. - La Vache

and from the other semi:

+10 - Dobago - Matt Bukovski - Gold Walls [looks like that Golden point swap won't be happening then]

+06 - Thelonia - Freestylers - Fabulous (feat. Scarlett Quinn)

Belatedly edited in the update for BJSC 135 for the qualification streak to my last post in that contest's semi results thread. Highlights:

Extending national records: Altyr Muunilinst, Rolloland

Matching previous national records: (The Actual Republic of) Bellamia (previously achieved in BJSCs 63-67, 82-86, 91-95 & 114-118), Arcodesia (previously achieved in BJSCs 116-118), Varakë (previously achieved in BJSCs 63-64, 96-97 & 123-124, exceeded by a run of 3 qualifiers in non-consecutive contests (BJSCs 63-64 & 66)), Sovarasma (previously qualifying in BJSCs 126 & 130)

And now for this month's update with a shiny new leader :o

* more consecutive entries (21 for Hendinia, 4 for Kylienips, 2 for Republic of Adonia) have qualified but these streaks were broken by breaks from the contest

After achieving the 8th longest qualification streak for any country in the contest's history with 22 consecutive final appearances, Altyr Muunilinst's run finally comes to a close and it's Hendinia who take over at the top as they qualify for their 16th in a row. Ignoring Hendinia's absence from BJSC 120, this is their 21st entry in a row to qualify (I've just realised the footnote was one out on this stat for the past few months, now amended x) with their last DNQ occurring in BJSC 114. Some more fun stats about Hendinia in the next post x

Aside from Altyr Muunilinst, the only other country to lose a 100% qualification rate for the year to date was Ojnoj, so the next few nations after Hendinia also move up, with Aeroche now back in second place, Bøtanikkä in third and Jadakissnia & Rolloland tied for 4th. Aeroche's run of 13 finals in a row matches their run in BJSCs 73-85 as their second longest (though a long way to go to match their record 36 in a row in BJSCs 87-122). Notably these three streaks are just their three most recent - if they had qualified as well in BJSCs 86 and 123 they'd now be on a run of 64 (!) finals in a row. Bøtanikkä are one away from matching their own national record of 13, while Rolloland have expanded their current national record run to 8.

There are also 3 countries who set new national record after varying levels of waiting and previous close calls. The Actual Republic of Bellamia previously seemed doomed to stall at a record of 5 in a row for eternity, with previous runs in BJSCs 63-67, 82-86, 91-95 and 114-118 all being followed by DNQs, but they finally pull off the elusive 6 in a row now. Varakë make it into a third successive final for the first time after three previous occasions of back-to-back qualifiers (doubling up in BJSCs 63 & 64, 96 & 97 and 123 & 124), though worth noting that on the first of those occasions the run was ended by them being absent from BJSC 65; they returned with a third qualifying entry in a row in BJSC 66 so their current run now matches their previous record when ignoring breaks from the contest. Finally, Sovarasma (FKA Why So Sirius) have back-to-back qualifiers for the first time after their first two qualifications in BJSCs 126 and 130 were both followed by a DNQ.

Additional fun stats: Hendinia are now (and were after the previous contest) the only country to have two separate occasions of 20+ entries in a row qualifying (this following their national record run of appearing in 34 finals in a row in BJSCs 19-52). The only other country who have matched Hendinia in having two separate runs of appearing in 16 or more finals in a row is Numayania who made 20 straight finals in BJSCs 14-33 and then a further 17 in a row in BJSCs 35-51.

Also, this marks shockingly the first time ever that Hendinia have lead the qualification streak list! Despite their own record run of 34 qualifications in a row being the third longest streak ever for any nation, it was never enough to top the list due to it coinciding with (and ending before) FSR Rontvia's still-record run of 42 in a row. Time for an update on the history of leaders of this list :magic:

Nice to be revealed in the first bath, that rarely if ever happens! Can't say I'm surprised at the DNQ, but actually quite happy to be as high as 22nd. A nice handful of supporters, thanks, the rest of y'all are simply missing out on Black Atlass x

'Raining Fellas' not qualifying is a major bummer too :( I see Summericia qualified though so not all faith is lost! Thanks Iz for hosting!

Semi Final Horse:

pwUMLJD.png

I see I managed to alienate everyone who would most typically vote for a Utopia entry! 8 countries pointing it is pretty pleasing

double DNQ for me  Maybe I need to re-calibrate my sound Beaverdonia style! I must say I'm surprised that BJSC has moved on so much since K3 won in 2016 with a song that would aim for the same demographic but ah well it was one from the past I pulled back out for this contest.

Also my predictions were way off looking at those qualifiers! Lots of songs I thought would have enough of a voterbase to get them through.

Thanks for hostingest Iz and thanks to our supporters in the semi. It was very much a case of wrong semi syndrome, most of our potential voters were in t other one along with most of the songs i know and rate. Hey ho! Points were very close as it was a no standout semi for me, bar 1, and any of the songs down to 29th could have qualified with just one big supporter from t other semi.

So, not a good day for johns, altyr should have qualified as should mosquetania :P

So instead of all these stats for winners, lets have the stats for losers! Singerpurear demand our moment in the sun! Which countries can stand proud in the face of adversity with the most runs of dnqs? We need to celebrate failure! :cheer:
