Ed will have been number 1 for a week. ABBA's Voyage website was crashing on and off for over 12 hours with preorders.

Will Ed give way to ABBA for a few weeks before claiming the Christmas number 1 perhaps?

ABBA don't actually have to reach No.1 in November. There will be their first

Christmas Themed Song, ('Little Things', I think it is called). That will give the

Album a new 'Boost' in late December. Several ABBA Albums returned to No.1,

in the UK - 'Greatest Hits', 'Arrival', 'Greatest Hits Vol.2', and 'Gold', (4 times!).

So, even if ABBA's 'Voyage' Album is not No.1 in November, there'll be later

Months, that it can get there. After all, neither Ed nor Adele, are at No.1

forever...

ABBA & I don’t think it’ll be that close.

ABBA in it's first week on release for sure. Ed might reclaim it later though.

Unless Adele actually is dropping an album then that is.

I will eat my own foot if Adele releases her album the same week as ABBA x (and per the rule of her delaying her album a week every time someone posts about it I'm pretty sure the release is pushed into 2054 now).

Ed Sheeran and Adele are literally the two most reliable artists for staying at the top of the chart for a really long time with consistently high numbers though... Realistically this ABBA album is going to be mostly reliant on pure sales and those will be heavily concentrated to week 1 as is the case with basically all album releases other than the big current streaming giants, ABBA might be able to keep up relatively decent pure sales until Christmas because of it being Q4 and them probably being a good fit for what remains of the market for casual physical album purchases as gifts but if they're not beating Ed's second week in their first week I'm pretty sure there's no chance they're going to somehow outlast him after that.

(yes I know their GH gets consistent streaming numbers but it's very hard to imagine that new songs without the nostalgia and classic status attached to them will gain anywhere near the same level of traction, I expect it'll get somewhat decent streams in its first week then very rapidly tail off)

Neither, Adele will be if she's releasing
Ed Sheeran is out before ABBA but I think Abba will sell more the week they release but demand for both will be high.

I think ABBA will have massive week 1 sales to hit number 1, but I think Ed will reclaim it after a week or 2. If Adele does release an album at the start of November as well I'll throw my toys out of the pram, but it might make for some interesting top 3s for the rest of 2021...

So is Adele ACTUALLY releasing or is this BJ just saying if?

For the record think Ed will get a second week and Abba will be number two!

As much as I would love ABBA to be top, I can't see Ed dropping enough sales or ABBA's sales being high enough to stop him getting two weeks at least at the top.

The fact it only has 10 tracks will not help given the album stream rules, so Ed will have an advantage with 14 tracks available and the top 12 making up album 'sales' compared to ABBA's 10.

Agree with post noting the Christmas/winter single with the right promo could get it to the top later on still.

I think Abba will take #1 on week 1, but it could go either way. However if they don't, I wouldn't rule them out of reaching #1 nearer Christmas as their album has huge gift potential - same goes for Ed, but two years ago Rod Stewart entered at #3 with 37k and ended up Christmas #1 with 71k, so it can be done.
ABBA easy #1 on release week
ABBA! They not only crashed their own store but all of the Universal ones, their power
I expect Abba to open with huuuuuge sales. They will get purchased/streamed by people of all ages.
I don't think Ed has a multiweek number one in the bag this time. Looking at the deserved continued positive reaction ABBA have been getting online since their announcement yesterday I think it's safe to say this will be a very big release.
As long as there is no Adele album the same week, Abba will topple Ed Sheeran after just one week. However, I suspect Sheeran will reclaim the top spot the following week. Abba will sell more copies as Christmas presents so they may return to number one in December. An Adele release will throw a spanner in the works. If Adele is likely to sell similar numbers regardless of Christmas, perhaps she will wait until the new year and be number one from January until Easter.
