September 21, 20214 yr Lmao my comment was sort of tongue in cheek anyway. Point is it will be amazing if Elton ends up selling enough this week that he could have made #1 in a different week of 2021.
September 21, 20214 yr Still could happen with Elton, Shivers is a weak #1 with not even 400K daily on Spotify only problem that Cold Heart is lack of playlist support but if HH embraced, could easily be up there with Shivers
September 21, 20214 yr Lmao my comment was sort of tongue in cheek anyway. Point is it will be amazing if Elton ends up selling enough this week that he could have made #1 in a different week of 2021. As it happens, Cold Heart sold more last week than Sweet Melody did in its week at #1  but get your point, looks like it'll do close to 40k this week
September 21, 20214 yr I’d love Cold Heart to be #1 but not with under 40k; it could still strengthen some more though. Shivers isn’t setting the world alight with its numbers. Its streams will probably be up a bit on last week but its overall numbers down without the benefit of the 9,000 CDs. At any rate I doubt it will have the legs to be at the top for more than a month, although I thought the same with Positions and that ended up staying for 6 weeks.
September 21, 20214 yr The utter frustration at seeing #1 album still only on 6k after last week is soooo annoying. Clearly both Manics and Steps deserve #1 albums in 2021.
September 21, 20214 yr I don't think it's very likely but if Shivers does peak this week and Cold Heart continues to increase it's streaming numbers enough I guess it could sneak a week at #1 which would be amazing. The only other things I could see possibly getting a #1 by default if Ed Sheeran were to fall enough would be Industry Baby or Love Nwantiti if it keeps building momentum. Regardless it's looking like BTS/Coldplay have a good shot at debuting at the top at this point. Edited September 21, 20214 yr by Dot Branning
September 21, 20214 yr Amazing to see! If it wasn't for Ed Sheeran chasing the record books, Elton could have a #1 in 2021! We would also have had the worst no.1 of all time with 'Girls want Girls' so it's all balanced out.
September 22, 20214 yr The gap between them is only ~100 smaller than it was yesterday (possibly even less accounting for rounding), Drake won't overtake at that rate! There's a lot of streaming data missing so it could really go either way. Where have Steps fallen to since Monday's update?
September 22, 20214 yr or Queen Dua giving Elton a hit :D well here I kinda think they're both helping each other
September 22, 20214 yr There's a lot of streaming data missing so it could really go either way. Missing streaming data affects both of them equally though.
September 22, 20214 yr Missing streaming data affects both of them equally though. Which is why I said "it could really go either way"
September 22, 20214 yr I really hope Elton and Dua can get number 1 next week/ week after. Agree it’s only a hit due to Dua and ageism would have stopped Elton alone getting a huge hit in the current chart world, but I’m so glad it has happened! Proof that “heritage” acts can still shift singles. I would have loved Madonna/Dua Levitating to have been as big as this as it deserved to which is a shame 😟 but this is something at least!!!
September 22, 20214 yr Just read that Lil Nas X only delivered the final version of the album to the label a few days before the release so there was no time for printing CDs/vinyls... but he said they are coming (in 2022 I guess) :)
September 22, 20214 yr Unfortunately the Lil Nas X tracks do appear to be falling away faster than the Drake tracks on Spotify over the last couple of days.
