I wouldn't be too worried about Adele. EOM did over 200k first week and her album is most pre-added album ever on Apple Music with weeks to go still. I just think people may be slightly burned out on Ed? That's not to say his numbers aren't/won't be very good though considering the current climate.
November 1, 20214 yr The thing with Ed’s “comeback” is has he really went away. Like it may be 4 years since his last solo album without features but we had a full collaborations album then he released other versions of certain tracks on that album where even more features were on there then we had him as a featured artist on other artists tracks (like Stormzy and Eminem) following this we had a one off single just last year so he hasn’t really been away all that long when you think about it. We haven’t actually had a chance to actually miss Ed really. Adele on the other hand has actually been on a musical break so her comeback is a bit more hyped than Ed’s. Ed’s albums always sell really well over time as well. I think this may be one of his albums what peaks on sales after debut week can see it doing really well during Christmas week. November 1, 20214 yr Can't say I'm too surprised at this point. Originally I expected 150-200k first week, but revised that up with how well the early singles (well, mostly Bad Habits) did. However with the early streaming figures suggesting it will do less than half Divide's opening week on streaming, and the general decline in the physical market since 2017, it was becoming difficult to see sales adding much more than 100k first week. Whether any of that makes it a flop is another conversation I'm not interested in, for a start whether a few days of sales / streams determines if something is a flop or not, and then whether it is what Ed or his team expected for this album... but I'm sure that won't stop lots of people going down that route.

November 1, 20214 yr 'No.6 Collaborations Project' had 63.9k in its Monday update so this is a big-ish improvement on that - so indeed the continued drop in streaming numbers is being more than offset by an increase in pure sales. Obviously is a rather dramatic drop from the pure sales of '÷' though (that had 432k in its Monday update), and it'll likely be more frontloaded than 'No.6' due to being more sales based.

She eclipses him in regards to album sales. He's sold a lot more singles. But that's in part due to him releasing a lot more than what Adele has.

Indeed, so strange to say Ed is bigger in a conversation about album sales when Adele clearly has been by far and away the biggest album artist in the world and the UK for the last 10 years

November 1, 20214 yr Overpass Graffiti is behind Bad Habits on all streaming platforms, surely that will overtake it by Friday once the front-loaded physicals impact wears off and it is free from ACR. If Adele is only 800 sales behind Shivers today from the figure quoted on the last page then I think she has a pretty good chance of remaining at #1 albeit with a pretty minimal lead. I'm gonna predict: 1. Adele 2. Shivers 3. Bad Habits 4. Overpass Graffiti 5. Elton/Dua

Wait for the weekend crowd. Karen and Bob will get his pack of 12 cheeseslices up to one million from impulse checkout buys at Sainsbo's and Tesco's.
