November 2, 20214 yr The split for Ed's physicals: CD - 45,883 Vinyl - 8,390 Cassette - 4,266 Let's compare with Coldplay's Monday midweek physical sales from 18th October: CD - 56,230 Vinyl - 11,273 Cassette - 5,978 = 73,481 and 5,466 downloads + 2,284 streams = 81,231 overall The missing data from HMV on Friday must be quite significant! By the way, Adele - Easy on Me has 54 CD sales. I'm guessing those are from Amazon. That definitely looks like Ed has a lot of physicals missing. If it is HMV pre orders missing as well as Friday sales that could be a lot of sales to be added.
November 2, 20214 yr How dare he not charge us £3.99 for a CD !! Only on here would you find people complaining about an artist offering an affordable physical product solely because they are Ed Sheeran, even if it goes against every other post and action they make when they praise and order absolute rip off physical products from their favourite and beg for more formats.

Erm, I think you'll find I said the same thing about Elton + Dua when they offered a signed CD single for 99p the other week. Also, I'll challenge you to find a post of mine where I've "begged for more formats".
November 2, 20214 yr Buzzjack really is a glimpse of what hell is like when Ed releases and the same boring debates rage on. Like him or loathe him I’m all for him and others keeping the physical format alive, giving a sh!t about his career and chart positions and putting some effort in.
November 2, 20214 yr I bet if he’s on here he has a right laugh to himself how he’s on everyone’s minds ALL the time!
November 2, 20214 yr Any mention of Ed Sheerhan should result in an insta ban. I'm all for pretending he doesn't exist! :cheer:
November 2, 20214 yr It will be really interesting to see how Ed, ABBA and Adele fair over the next few weeks. I don't see Ed's performance this week as a flop, more that it's giving us an indication of what to expect in these times. We can't really compare divide to this one, the chart landscape is so different now. Even Lewis Capaldi's album only just about passed a million didn't it? And that was huge in terms of popular impact.
November 2, 20214 yr but you cannot compare 1st week vs long time performance nobody sells anything after week 1 and then yo automatically get 2K added every week from your playlists based on first week, so far Ed is the underperformance of the year already and there's no other way around it despite what all the Ed loons say
November 2, 20214 yr I think you can only assess the performance once we have other big name acts to compare it with. Let’s see what ABBA and Adele end up selling. If they also end up with less than expected then it will be down to the current trends in music consumption and the knock on effects of those sales wise.
November 2, 20214 yr Actually I'd say the fairest way to assess performance is to look at how Ed performed back when divide was released compared to the market for that year, then compare that % with how far he outperforms the average market for this year.
November 2, 20214 yr With Ed I think it’s just a combination of the way music consumption has changed and the fact there wasn’t much hype for a new Ed Sheeran album. As I’ve said before if this was his first new music since Divide then I think there would of been more of a demand but the Collaboration’s album, the features he had done and then ‘Afterglow’ has watered down any big comeback.

November 2, 20214 yr 40 SwitchOTR - Coming For You This has to be the most bizarre sample of Avicii I've ever heard or will ever hear!
November 2, 20214 yr Poor brave Ed, this floppage is like Rachel Stevens' Come and Get It all over again.
November 2, 20214 yr Pitchfork nailed it with their review of = https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/ed-sheeran-equals/ You don’t like Ed‘s album?? What a surprise. There’s literally nothing he could’ve done for you to like it…
November 2, 20214 yr Poor brave Ed, this floppage is like Rachel Stevens' Come and Get It all over again. What a bizarre comparison (unless that's just sarcasm gone over my head)
November 2, 20214 yr Any comparison to Duffy's second era is tasteless, glad she's even with us after what she went through. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-52177265
