Pitchfork nailed it with their review of =

https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/ed-sheeran-equals/

That is a better score than they gave to '÷' though xx

(Although they did surprisingly give a score as 'high' as 5.3 to 'No.6 Collaborations Project' despite that being reviewed worse than his main albums by everyone else iirc)

Buzzjack really is a glimpse of what hell is like when Ed releases and the same boring debates rage on.

Like him or loathe him I’m all for him and others keeping the physical format alive, giving a sh!t about his career and chart positions and putting some effort in.

This.

I'm no fan of Ed (or Adele for that matter) but I want both their albums to sell well to keep physical sales alive. If that also includes cheap CD singles, that's fine by me. I also like the fact that some acts do care enough about the charts and chart positions to keep releasing physical singles.

The split for Ed's physicals:

CD - 45,883

Vinyl - 8,390

Cassette - 4,266

Let's compare with Coldplay's Monday midweek physical sales from 18th October:

CD - 56,230

Vinyl - 11,273

Cassette - 5,978

= 73,481

and 5,466 downloads + 2,284 streams = 81,231 overall

The missing data from HMV on Friday must be quite significant!

By the way, Adele - Easy on Me has 54 CD sales. I'm guessing those are from Amazon.

Thanks for the info Jay! Definitely looks like the HMV missing sales are quite big for Ed then. Gives me hope he'll cross 200k!

Glad to see CD singles starting to ship for EOM. Hopefully more and more will be shipped as the week goes on. Any Casettes for EOM at all yet too? They're meant to be shipping early November.

Well, I would be totally fine if not a single piece of plastic was manufactured just to sell music.

And Ed selling them .99 with a signature is just ridiculous.

Adele's CD singles seems to have been released today as it's no longer showing a release date of 3 November (which had changed from 5 November). I'm assuming it will ship as soon as it's ordered. If so those sales may show up tomorrow in the Wednesday midweeks.
LMAO Ed is tanking and we love to see it. Finally people are realising how boring and generic his music is! :cheer:

You stan Gaga… don‘t.

Using words like flop or tanking for an album that will probably sell more in its 1st week than most artists albums will do in total is bizarre. Underperforming yes but what will easily be in the top 3 albums of the year labelled as a flop is just plain dumb. It's by fans of artists who wet themselves when their favourite sells 5 copies on iTunes too.

If Ed Sheeran's album is locked in a box and nobody has opened the lid, can it exist as both a flop and a success at the same time?

They spoke the truth for once. It also has a user score of 36 on AOTY at the moment with a "bro you just posted cringe" tag

When’s the „Future Nostalgia (The Complete Moonlight Deluxe Edition DJ Mix 2022“ being released?

Looks like her team are really pushing for her to keep the #1. What an exciting chart week to be alive!

It isn't :)

This CD move has kind of ended the excitement though :kink: her streaming seems to have improved again today so there may have been a chance she'd claw back the #1 by a small margin even without the CDs, but it's probably safe to assume she'll be #1 quite easily now.

So you are against physicals in general? A single piece of plastic is produced for every vinyl, CD, cassette and every other variation thrown out at us for every artist.

Streaming is equally as damaging to the environment too - https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.factmag....ions-study/amp/

If a tree falls in the forest and Ed Sheeran claims he allowed it to happen, does Buzzjack make a sound? :P

Ed Sheeran supporting deforestation? Is there no end to this man's evil :deadbanana:

"Against" is a strong word, but yes I think they should be valued higher than they once were and we definitely don't need to go back to days when physical singles and albums were super cheap, especially most of them being collector's items now.

Agree with this, I’m not an Ed Stan by any means he’s alright and generally like most of his singles. But I like to see artists sell well both Ed and Adele!
