November 10, 20214 yr Well, compared to the no.2 album, it is a work of Picasso! Really? Many people are saying '=' is a big step up from 'Divide', it's just not connecting with the masses as much, which isn't a bad thing.
November 10, 20214 yr ABBA adding another 13k today then which tracks better with their increase between Saturday and Monday. (Would sammy01 like to explain how they went from doing 12.5k-ish per day for 2 days, then 50k the following day, then 13k again the day after that, if it's not for the fact that late dispatches don't get counted until they are dispatched :P) Looks like they'll be decently clear of 200k for the week especially if there are still more late dispatches to come (do we have any anecdotal evidence of that? x)
November 10, 20214 yr Nice to see Joel and Mabel sneaking into the top 20. It’ll be interesting to see Ed’s final week sales and wether they’ll remain high over the next few weeks or if it’s peoples orders coming later.
November 10, 20214 yr I don't think Ed has been having shipping issues (he was only missing sales in the early update last week because all of HMV's Friday data was missing for some reason). He was doing around 8k per day for most of last week and added 6.3k yesterday so not a massive drop on a daily level. For the whole week he'll be down a lot because all of the pre-orders went to last week of course. But he probably isn't going to continue plummeting next week.

After knowing Ed's total sure but you surely can't have never doubted it considering Ed's last solo album did nearly 700k first week :lol: whatever final tally ABBA end on will still be a number that it would have been fairly reasonable to assume Ed might have beaten if you asked anyone a couple of weeks ago.
November 10, 20214 yr So excited at the thought of an album breaking 200k again finally, great to see. Also Ed could get close enough to 50k probably most likely 45k but still decent second week.

November 10, 20214 yr Good to see Silk Sonic enter the Top 40 today. It's a shame Don't Shut Me Down dropped out but that was inevitable... two months late with this observation, but it was only the 4th Abba single to enter in the Top 10, after Take A Chance On Me (entered at #10), Chiquitita (#8) and The Winner Takes It All (also #9). Does Ed have the biggest sales for a #2 placement album this year? Currently second highest after Iron Maiden (44k). Even if he doesn't overtake that, he already has the highest second week sale of the year, and will soon have the highest of the decade which is currently 35k for Ball and Boe(!) last December.
November 10, 20214 yr He should get to around 50k for the week (maybe slightly under) at the rate he's currently increasing. I would have guessed that ABBA would have lower second week sales than Ed regardless of if they beat his first week sales or not (just because of streaming/physical splits etc.) but they'd need to drop off quite a lot from their current 13k-per-day status quo for that to be the case now! They might well manage to stay ahead of Ed for the rest of the year now (but Ed is surely still bound to overtake them eventually, probably January at the latest, their strong casual physical sales can't last forever).
