ABBA <3 There’s something very fairytale-esque about four Swedish 70-somethings picking up where they left off 40 years ago and topping the charts with ease, smashing the sales of the biggest contemporary artist of the last five years out of the park.

They transcended it majorly but the point still stands that it’s not been too bad a year for Eurovision winners in the UK charts!

Fantastic sales for ABBA - even without all the other formats, 118k CDs is more than the pure weekly sales of any album since 2017!

(They might fall short of Ed's 19.1k downloads last week, but I think Adele will beat that anyway.)

Happy for ABBA sales.

For me it's a sign that people still need a good music.

Their album is just better than current pop music.

Woah ABBA!

Great to see Miss Ross the Boss climbing into the top 5. I wonder if stores are stocking her and ABBA close together, helping her pick up some casual sales? :)

This entire post is...

:michelle:

ABBA’s album is run of the mill and anyone pretending otherwise really needs to have a word with themselves. It’s a good album but let’s not pretend that it’s the creme de la creme. It’s an enjoyable pop album by a 70’s pop band, just with aged vocals.

I’m happy that they are doing such huge numbers as I’m a fan but there’s really no need for the snobbery.

Well, compared to the no.2 album, it is a work of Picasso!

Hope Garbage can stay top 40 with the album
OT, but Voyage is the fastest-selling album in German music history. The first album to sell over 200K on its first day of release.

where did you hear/read this?

surely a lot of data must have been missing from Abba?

James Arthur managing over 10k is a great achievement for him also, should manage at least 15k.

This is very well put. The album is ok, but that’s as far as it goes and I’m a huge ABBA fan.

The ABBA album is generally lacklustre with some decent moments however it’s great to have them back encouraging people to buy vinyl and CD again. Those massive pre sales all filtering through is a welcome benefit through the week too as let’s face it, they were always going in at 1 even with the despatch issues.
