Who’s That Girl is a Primark standard version of La Isla Bonita, it’s lucky to have made the top 100 tbh

My Camera Never Lies is my favourite Bucks Fizz single.

As well as being a bit credible, it has the best of their dance routines, a cracking video and the artwork is ace. They look brilliant on the sleeve and it fits well with the title of the song.

It was also the first record I ever bought - got the 7" poster pack from WHSmiths.

Shout out to Who's That Girl - though it's not one of my faves of Madonna. (Would like to watch the movie again though!)

As for Bucks Fizz, The Land of Make Believe is my favourite (childhood memories probably help!).

TRUTH!

I like Who's That Girl because it reminds me of when I first got into music.

I can’t help but think of the Eve song when I see ‘Who’s That Girl’??

Some big hitters falling since I last was on the thread thought Rick and UB40 would have been top 20, both classics!

Most had written off KC as a victim of the disco backlash but this proved their only chart topper well into the 80s.

Second Collins chart topper to exit (one left)- his cover of the 1966 Supremes track also featured his attempt to recreate the Motown sound with 80s production.

Touted by some as the public’s thank you to Midge Ure for his Band Aid work, this was Ure’s only solo chart topper though of course he had also topped the charts in the 70s as part of Slik.

If I Was is good stuff. Though Midge very much dad-dances in the video.

Like You Can't Hurry Love. One of Phil's best.

Give It Up... Meh!!

If I Was is a gorgeous track but I expected it to exit here or sooner.

I don’t know if people shunned You Can’t Hurry Love because it’s a cover but I think it’s fabulous.

If I Was is my favourite of those three songs, Perhaps Midge dad-dances in the video as a response to many commentators thinking Ultravox and their singer Midge took themselves too seriously! I don't think they did. My favourite song Midge Ure ever did is 'The Voice' by Ultravox.

You Can't Hurry Love did well here considering its a basic cover version....I mean the production is pretty similar in style to the original, its not like Kim Wilde's version of the Supremes' You Keep Me Hanging On where the production is completely transformed to 80s synthpop. Phil's version of YCHL is decent enough though, Easy Lover is better so glad that's still to come on this thread.

I like 'Give It Up'. Its also one of those retro-revival songs that, like Four Tops 'Loco In Acapulco', could be from any time in the 80s. Also the singers vocal style when he sings the 'mine all mine' bit reminds me of the Fine Young Cannibals singer!

If I Was is fab, it just got squeezed out my votes - think I'm still on around 25 still to come of the ones I did vote for :o

Took ages for another of my votes to fall but there we go with 'If I Was'! I'm another who was actually expecting it lower, not bad at all.

I have enjoyed this thread so far, hopefully we will do the 70s next as our final edition of this (as a lot of the 60s number 1s are probably a bit too forgotten)!

I'd love a 60s #1 version but not sure how far that enthusiasm would stretch to on the forum

Im surprised at myself giving so many votes to You Can't Hurry Love :D I like it but not THAT much :D
If I Was only really clicked with me in the last 5 years - that synth sound is so uplifting I can turn a blind eye to the grammatical incorrectness (although 'If I Were' seems more jarring somehow).
