That was a painful last couple of dropouts for me.

I’m not really the sort to “stan” any artists but ABBA’s the closest I get. That’s an OK result for Super Trouper but I’m now wishing I’d given it at least one more so it made the century!

19 is just a one off; love it.

Acts with multiple entries in the top 50

4- Pet Shop Boys

3- David Bowie

Frankie Goes To Hollywood

Madonna

2- Blondie

George Michael

The Jam

Love 19, one of the most brilliantly done protest songs of all time <3

Not doing quite as well here as I did in the 90s one, but that's a great top 50 nonetheless!

19 is utterly fantastic. Very original making a song about a serious subject into an upbeat dance style track and also using the news reel clips as samples. Love it. "In WW2 the average age of the combat soldier was 26, in Vietnam he was just 19." That's a fact that has stuck with me since I first heard it in the song.

19 and Super Trouper are both good tracks. I probably appreciate 19 more now than I did.

But if I ever hear Super Trouper, I always think, "I was sick and tired of everything, when I called you last night from Tesco." which was what my brother and I used to sing to it when we were kids.

4 songs from the Pet Shop Boys... If you look at the very first Greatest Hits it's not surprise as almost every one of the 18 tracks is killer!!

Paul Hardcastle's 19 is great, a real precursor to the house music boom three years later.

It makes more sense than the real lyric though. What on earth was she doing in Glasgow?

I felt like I'd lost more of my votes, but several of my 21 left are songs I didn't expect to go this far! That's a great list of acts with multiple songs left, although I had to rack my brains to recall the 3rd David Bowie song - ah yes of course, I thought Dancing In The Street was still in for a moment

Totally unacceptable that Yazz is out. Have a word with yourself, Buzzjack. 😡
Pretty decent top 50. Surprised that Caravan of Love is still in it.
Oops at me in the bottom 3. Not surprised though.

Ghost Town, Into The Groove and The Model are definitely my least faves in the top 50 list. :teresa:

Oh I do love ‘Ghost Town’!

I'm most surprised that Pump Up The Volume has survived this long!

Watch Pump Up the Volume become the Your Woman of this thread

"Back To Life", "Pump Up The Volume", "Ride On Time" didn't deserve even 1 point.

Ride on Time is a great track. I agree on the other two, but I loved Black Box.

doh! Abba just missing the 50, and 19 is also fabulous. Both of those should be top 50, and errr Tiffany still in? I mean, nostalgia apart, really? Tommy James & The Shondells anyday for me... :P

PS The Police Every Breath You Take is brilliant. So is Pump Up The Volume. Both have more substance than Tiffers, Kylie, Whitney, Starship, Communards, Nena which are all fine pop songs but not in the same league as the rest and many that have fallen short of the 50.

Pet Shop Boys to have 4 top 10's please :D

With neat symmetry we hit the top 50 with 100 points exactly. Here’s Culture Club’s second and final chart topper and highest entry on this list. Also the best seller of 83.
